TMNT Season 4 Episode 1: "Beyond the Known Universe" (SPOILERS) · 7:04pm Oct 26th, 2015

Editor's Note: Posted a day late due to the power going out in the middle of the premiere yesterday.

For those who haven't been keeping up, season three of TMNT ended with the destruction of Earth by the Triceratons and the murder of Splinter by Shredder. The Turtles, April, and Casey were rescued at the last second by the Fugitoid and spirited away into space as the Triceratons' black hole crushed the Earth.

That's right: season four is TURTLES. IN. SPAAAAAAAAAAAAAACE!

The Fugitoid's ship jumps six months back in time, giving the Turtles a chance to save the Earth from the Triceratons by preventing them from assembling the Black Hole Generator they used to destroy Earth.

The bad news: They only get one shot at this. If they fail, everything ends.

The good news: At least they GET a chance to prevent the destruction of Earth.

This incarnation of the Fugitoid acts and sounds a lot like a Hitchhiker's Guide character. Oh, and he's voiced by David Tennant. :pinkiegasp:

Fugitoid sets the Turtles, April, and Casey up with alien space gear so they can do space stuff. April's spacesuit consists mainly of...a sexy yellow jumpsuit!

Had to get her in one eventually.

Casey and Donnie have an EXTREMELY teenage boy reaction to April's jumpsuit, which creeps her out.

While repairing the ship, the crew has a little misadventure with an asteroid field, after which they land at an alien spaceport to refuel. It's your regular average hive of scum and villainy, with lots of culture shock and a LOT of unfriendly natives. The Turtles, Casey, and April get in a lot of trouble almost immediately and end up fleeing from several angry merchants and one pissed-off alien boyfriend, then have a run-in with a legitimate alien badass.

Whose incredibly rare and valuable spice sample they accidentally destroy, leading to a fight, which leads to the dawn of a new nemesis for the Turtles: a giant, extremely irritable alien cockroach.

Fleeing to the ship, they take off, and their new nemesis gives chase. There's a brief dogfight in space, during which the ship is boarded. The Turtle Team defeats the boarding party, and the ship jumps into hyperspace. The team celebrates their narrow escape from death...

...but that celebration is cut short when they come out of hyperspace right in the middle of the Triceraton fleet.

Thoughts:

I...don't really know what to make of this season so far. As I've said before, the Triceraton and Fugitoid stuff was never a big draw for me. The Fugitoid being voiced by David Tennant and being a bit on the eccentric side helps, but I'm not sure the Turtles In Space storyline is going to be as compelling as everything they've done up to this point.

You were right with one of your previous comment about Nickelodeon putting this online. A few episodes in and it will go online.

I really hope that with the new episodes being on Sunday might stop this from happening as Korra was on Friday night and the with the main amount of viewers being as old as they are, that was a really bad combination.

3498347 Same here. A little warning, Nickelodeon!

Is there any cartoon you don't watch, Myth? :rainbowhuh:

3498516 There are a LOT of cartoons I don't watch. Like Regular Show, Spongebob, Sanjay and Craig, everything on Adult Swim (ever since Boondocks ended I haven't given a shit about any Adult Swim shows), Wander Over Yonder..there's a LOT I don't watch. And a lot I do watch.

Why does that line from Turtles in Time come to mind?
"Starbase: Where no turtle has gone before"

April's spacesuit consists mainly of...a sexy yellow jumpsuit!

All right. Giggety.

In this episode, a new incarnation of a classic villain returned: LORD DREGG, from the Red Sky series of the 1987 cartoon!!
