Inquisitor M

Why 'Inquisitor'? Because 'Forty two': the most important lesson I ever learned. Any answer is worthless until you have the right question. Author, editor, critic, but foremost, a philosopher.

So you want to write betterer...

Just thought I'd quickly advertise the latest Humble Bundle of ebooks on writing. I've no idea how good any of them are, but if you're interested, you can't go far wrong with the price.

    New Directions

I could do the whole 'here's my update' skit, but to be quite frank, I'm just going to ask for clicks. The long and the short of it is that medication is working out very well, I have a job lined up through a special back-to-work scheme that is going well so far, and a new game is coming out in a couple of months that has finally gotten me enthused about writing again.

    Reading: Three Solos, One Cadence

I may have assumed that this project had fallen by the wayside since it's been so long. And, of course, I have been somewhat otherwise-occupied recently. Imagine my surprise when fifty-eight minutes of some of my best character writing popped up in my inbox. The background music choices make this absolutely sublime. Whether you have read the original or not, this is well worth a listen.

Okay, so, it seems I have really screwed up my foot this time, and after dragging my sorry ass down to the Jobcentre this morning like I was re-enacting a crippled Battlemech, my foot has now swelled up so much that I couldn't get it back on one of my shoes if I tried. I literally can't concentrate on anything right now, so I'd just suspended any pretence at useful work. Luckily, I have also just discovered that I can buy co-codamol over the counter; there is some chance this might save my Friday from being a total washout.

Either way, please note that this weekend's Writeoff is for original fiction. If you fancy having a crack at non-pony words, or just reading some fanfic authors trying something different, pop over to writeoff.me. Writing begins tomorrow morning. I usually can't think of anything quickly enough to enter these things, but hell, keep your eyes peeled for a story that looks like it was written by someone on slightly too many painkillers – that might be me.

Until normal service is resumed,

-Scott

3488886 Not going to the Jobcentre wasn't really an option. I'd pretty much be homeless in two weeks if I'd skipped it.

Ouch -- nasty in several respects. OTC co-codamol is a godsend, though: I took it for a couple of days at the peak of a shingles outbreak and it made such a difference. I hope you heal quickly!

Get well soon! Despite the bad news in this post, I'm still kinda excited you might be joining in on this weekend's writeoff.

I'm sorry to see that things aren't really going your way right now, M. Take all the time you need—we'll be here when you get back.

Oh, ick. Heal quickly!

If you do enter the Writeoffs, I'll look forward to reading your story. I haven't recovered from the last Writeoff yet but I'm still far more excited than I should be. Branching out toward original fiction is a tremendous step in the right direction for such a talented and involved writing community as ours.
