I've been editing some FiMFic for my guy. He worked hard on it. I really don't get how people can be so dismissive of the huge, sincere effort that goes into fan fiction. Yeah, it's about ponies. But it's fun. He's put out an amazing word count in a short amount of time. And it brings some joy to those who read it. Will it win a Pulitzer? No. But there are some things not measurable in that way.
I've got a BA in Fiction Writing and have not written in ages. It's been so intimidating. It's been discouraging. But do you know what IS encouraging? Watching my boyfriend exercise his talent and put time in on his pony projects. It's so impressive. And it's great to watch how alive he seems when talking about it. I may start writing something that I think is fun and not at all intimidating -- yet something I can lose myself in and enjoy.
Will I write about ponies? Who knows. But I think I'm working my way to more regular writing.
