The Commenters Character Blog

These are two characters I created and use when I feel like turning my comments into short stories for my amusement. Haven't in a while but I thought I'd get these guys out there. I did my best to do it in MLP style, but it's not the great. I posted the picture on my deviantart account some time ago but forgot to make a Character Blog for them.
Name: Paw De Cuffs
Nickname: Paws, Muddy Paws
Race: Diamond Dog
Gender: Male
Age: 24
Hair/Mustache: Is it a wig? Is it real? Did he grow out his fur and dye it to give him a friendlier look? You be the judge.
Profession: Show Announcer Host/ Radio host
Current Job: Commenters / Cuff and CourseFeather Show
Personality: I kind of imagine him to be like a more mature Anchorman in terms of jokes and professional standing. He is a rather happy person and it takes much to get him down. Paws is also known to go into things without thinking, but has boundless enthusiasm. It’s only been since he became a Radio jockey that Paws has put in any thought on his appearance. He’ll make sure he’s properly groomed and all his clothes are in order, but if not pressed he’ll leave his home a mess. A bit lazy, it doesn’t mean Paw won’t help a friend in need, wither that friend knows it or not.
Background: Growing up in a regular Diamond Dog Warren, Paw spent his puppyhood in a mining community. There he lived underground with the rest of his kind, playing in the dusty caverns with his littermates. The middle child in a litter of five, Paw being the middle child was never really expected to be much of anything. Being the middle child made it hard for him to get his parent’s attention and so began to take on a bold and brass personality in order to be heard. His jokes and friendly nature made him a fun dog to be around. This earned him both the ire and fondness of many adults that lived throughout the community. As the pack of youngsters he joined would often play pranks in the caverns. This earned him the nickname Muddy as he would always come home covered in filth of the day.
However, even with his friendly nature he showed little interest in any of the careers that the Warren boasted. It should be noted that since Diamond Dogs do not have much interest in higher learning he wouldn’t acquire an education pass basic math or learn to read till later on in his life. Until his early teen years Paw worked with the rest of the young Dogs in the mines, digging out gems or laying the ground work for new tunnels and underground structures. Eventually Paw grew unhappy with his life in the Warren and after some heart felt tears of goodbye from Mr. and Mrs. Cuffs; he set off to make his fortune.
The next few years were a series of rather hilarious unfortunate events, often seeing him fleeing from towns filled with pitch forks and torches. After some time Paw de Cuffs found himself in AppleWood, Equestria’s home for the film and Radio industry at age 17. From there he did a number of odd jobs to make things meet. Being a Diamond Dog didn’t help much when it came to opportunities, but with little else to do he strived on. Eventually he befriended Gemrick while taking a course in Radio hosting. The two are now a duo and best friends. With Gemrick acting as the straight man in most situations. They split up for a bit while pursuing a profession in Showbiz or on the Radio. During this time both worked on different Radio stations as well as taking on minor filler roles on some Equestrian Movies. As it were the two eventually got their own radio show after Paws pitched it to his producer. This led to the radio hosting them in the middle of the day as the Commenters. It has become fairly popular as the two give their opinions on national and world-wide events while making it entertaining for the audience.

Nickname: Gems
Race: Gryphon
Age: 23
Profession: Show Announcer Co-Host/ Radio Co-Host
Current Job: Commenters / Cuff and CourseFeather Show
Personality: Gemrick is often the straightman, he always makes sure he looks professional and acts mature when dealing with other people. Not that he can’t be fun, but he does put a little too much into his appearance. On first inspection he gives off a too cool to hang with you kind of vibe and may on the occasion act like a jerk. But it’s all for show, he’s actually a rather nice guy, although he does have a bit of a temper.
Background: The CourseFeather Clan are a proud clan of scouts and explorers. They’ve been known to travel anywhere at any time. Many members of this clan usually become, guards for ambassadors, as stated before scouts, explorers and even Mail Gryphons! Gemrick was born and raised under the sunny skies of AppleWood the only hatchling of Horace and Thai CourseFeather. Capt. CourseFeather worked for the Gryphon Ambassador as security for the Embassy and as such moved his family over when he was given the position.
Gemrick grew up among the boulevards and sand beaches that dominated the area. He grew up around rich children and because he’s parent weren’t rich themselves, made him feel rather self-conscious. This has led him to become rather conscious of his appearance and took to making sure he had the “look” and attitude in order to not be left out while growing up. He never completely grew out of this and it also led him to acquiring a bit of a temper when he got into fights over his “status”.
