How much this hurts!

No, seriously, I'm in an awful lot of pain right now and the only thing keeping me from agony are steady doses of painkillers. I'm also thirsty enough to drink an ocean or three but woozy enough to be unable to take much of anything in.

Regardless of that, the surgery went well despite complications. It turns out that my gall bladder (despite every test showing it to be okay) was "completely diseased", and it had a huge stone. As I understand it, most people that get gall bladder symptoms have a lot of stones. I just had a single, very large stone that was blocking the bile duct. It was so large that it had shifted the position of the gall bladder to my left, where it adhered itself to my stomach, scarring it. (It was only 1cm in Feb, but apparently it grew like mad since then.) The scar tissue on the stomach is fortunately limited to the outside of the organ, but it meant that they had to scape the last bits of gall bladder off of it!

The doc says in a week or two I should be recovered from the surgery, and with luck my appetite should slowly recover during that time. Also, I won't be writing for a few days at least, I'm too out of it. And the burping... they pump you full of air for the surgery so I'm basically off-gassing right now or something.

Anyway, I hope you all liked the latest chapter! BTW, notice how the cover art is a bit different? It's actually not quite done yet, my wife is still working on it. (It may be a while before it's done, she's quite busy.) Despite it being a work-in-progress, I think it still looks damn amazing! You should all go and post on her userpage about how awesome her art is, because she's amazing and deserves it. :)

Wow. Just... wow. This is a fantastic thing to see coming home from surgery like this. Rites is at 500 favs, I kid you not. I am just blown away by this, and I hope everyone sticks around so I can tell you all my story. I started this as an experiment so I could learn and grow as a writer and eventually try to write and publish original fiction. I had no clue that Rites would grow and succeed this quickly. Although I recognize I've made some mistakes, with this many favorites you've all basically told me that you've forgiven me and told me the story is still worth reading, and for that I'm grateful. I promise I will try to learn from these mistakes so future chapters and stories are even better, and I thank you all from the bottom of my heart. I hope you all enjoy truly enjoy tale I'm trying to weave.
