Happy 30th Anniversary, 'Back to the Future!' · 11:27am Oct 21st, 2015
Today is October 21st, 2015, the day to which Doc Brown and Marty McFly travelled in Back to the Future II. The future is now! Too bad it's so underwhelming compared to the film's vision of the future. I mean, I'm glad fashion isn't usually so loud, but I could do with self-tying laces, auto-fit and dry clothes, and of course, hoverboards. There may also not be any consumer-safe flying cars, food hydrators, or 3D projectors that do not also require special lenses but they did get communication devices almost right. Plus, we have a huge emphasis on wearable technology now.
Our present may not be so different from Marty's, but the world has changed in many ways that he would find difficult to understand. A large spectrum of people who enjoy the pony show he no longer knows? A global community and economy? The Blue Jays on a hot streak? Yup, there's lots to which to adjust here.
Some other things with a recent 30 year anniversary are the My Little Pony and Mobile Suit Gundam franchises. Keep it going strong, you guys! Welcome to the party, Doc and Marty.
