Bump on my dog's head · 11:00pm Oct 19th, 2015
Simple title in the hopes someone might be able to offer advice, since we can't afford a trip to the vet right now. We brought Midna in for the night, and while Asilin was feeding her, she noticed a lump above her right eye.
It sticks up, and is about the size of the eraser on the end of a pencil. Asilin is afraid it's a growth, while I'm wondering if it might just be a very full tick.
Anyone?
I'd say look for a tick and if you can't find one, get her to a vet as soon as possible.
Closer pic?
Thinking tick.
It's hard to tell with the photo quality and distance, but that could certainly be a tick.
Is Midna a lab, and how old is she? We had an older lab who began to get growths like that. I believe it's something that just happens, as were were told it was no worry, when we asked about it. It doesn't look like a tick, but if it is, google the proper removal of one. I believe there's a few methods to safe removal for them.

Thanks for the advice, and update: it was a tick.

It is really hard to get a labrador to sit still long enough to pull one of those off of it.

She's mostly lab. We've been told that she's a bit too skinny and her legs are too thin to be a full lab, and there's likely a bit of greyhound in her. But she's about three and a half years old.

Hmm, the best advice I could give is to call a few local animal hospitals and vets, and see if there's any chance they can just take a look. Some places will at least look before they charge.

Yay, I was right!
I cheated by living in rural WV for a while though.

That's great! I'm happy it was just a tick.
I once had to pay $1,146 for an emergency hysterectomy for one of my dogs, so I understand how expensive it can be.
