Story Love Needed · 3:21am Oct 19th, 2015
Y'all might want to take a look at something I stumbled across a little over a month ago... A Mare's Search for Meaning, by Silent Shade
I never claimed to have any literary chops, but I found the story intriguing enough to like and eventually favorite it. So far, the only feedback given on the story consists of: a note on the cover art; my own thoughts at the associated blog post; and a box score of seven likes and seven dislikes, for what appear to be seventy views . Perhaps someone with better skillz than I have might take a look and see what I'm missing, because I don't see the l/d rate as justified.
In a broader sense, what's needed is non-condemnatory critiques. If the dude is wrong, he can't fix it if nobody will tell him what's broken, and suggest how to fix it. If the dude is right, he needs to hear that what he did with the story was right, and he should be told how to do "right" more often. In short - the story needs some love - if necessary, tough love; if not, then sharing and pass-the-word love, but love nonetheless.
Just throwing it out there, FWIW, But I do think it'd be a nice thing to take a look and offer constructive suggestions...
