It's a little late, but I needed some time to let this sink in. After four and a half seasons, the CMC FINALLY have their cutie marks and I'm... disappointed.
I thought it would be an awesome, amazing thing when the CMC finally got their cutie marks, with all that build-up and the stuff with them trying everything to find out what they were good at, and I guess, in spirit, their new cutie marks make sense, and that's cool, even. The three of them are destined to help other young fillies and colts find out what their special talents are.
It's just that the whole thing felt so rushed. When the big reveal happened, I just stared at the screen in shock. Especially because their brand-new cutie marks were so... what's the word I'm looking for? Stupid.
I was digging the episode itself, even though Diamond Tiara's change of heart also felt a bit OOC and sudden, but I could dig it. Maybe she's been thinking about how awful she's been for a while, and Silver Spoon turning on her was the big push she needed to finally get her head out of her plot and realize she was horrible. The songs were amazing too, but when the episode started taking a musical turn, it reminded me of something else huge that happened in a musical episode.
Yeah.
It felt so rushed, I couldn't help but feel disappointed, especially at the end when they took the footage from the freaking opening. A week later, I still can't quite get over it, and now they're stuck with those awful marks.
It's not enough to make me rage-quit the show or anything. I didn't even care about the CMC until about last season, but it's still kinda disappointing, especially considering that every other episode this season has been awesome.
