My Thoughts on "The One Where Pinkie Pie Knows" · 8:57pm Oct 17th, 2015
I preemptively belittled this episode, thinking that it couldn't compare with its predecessor. I was wrong, because this episode is probably just as good. Here are my thoughts on this week's down-right hilarious episode, The One Where Pinkie Pie Knows.

So, this one gets points immediately for the name. As a send up to one of my favorite shows ever, this one actually sorta felt like an episode of Friends. It had a rather sit-com-ish vibe to it. If it were to cut back and forth, and we actually got to see Twi and gang, it would be exactly that.
This one had me dying. Oh my god, there were just some hilarious bits in this episode. Pinkie promising not to flake on Mr. Cake, even if a problem arises that is exactly the problem she is experiencing that made her want to flake, Pinkie acknowledging that the image of Rarity telling her not to ruin the surprise is all in her head, Pinkie flailing alongside inflatable tube pony (which looked oddly like Princess Twilight), Shining Armor freaking out. I loved every moment of it. Pound Cake mimicking her mother in the doorway was beyond adorable, and I'm frankly surprised at how little they've grown. I know it's only been a year or so, but I really expected the kids to be bigger.
I knew that Cadance was pregnant, because I was talking to Conjure about the episode last week. I read only the title, and my mind instantly went racing on what it could be. My working theory was that either Shining did something that Pinkie misinterpreted as infidelity, and she tries to keep his secret, or that the two were getting divorced and Pinkie had to keep the secret from Twilight. Then, Conjure said the more likely and sensible"Or... Maybe Cadance is preggos". I instantly deflated and slapped my forehead, amazed at my own stupidity.
So, Cadence is pregnant. This is an excellent thing, both for them and for us who want to learn more about how Equestria works: Can alicorns be born, rather than made? And, if they can be, can there be male alicorns? What does this mean for the power structure of Equestria? The power is weirdly balanced enough as is, but then we're throwing in a whole new potential power. I know they will never go that deep into Equestrian politics, but it's something to think about.
I love how Mr. Cake and Shining are seen hoof-bumping near the end. At first, I was confused, but Conjure brought up the point that they're both fathers now, and that really warmed my heart. I also loved the fact that there was no lesson to be learned. Pinkie just did what she was supposed to, and then they had a sweet moment. Well done, Pinkie, well done.
I am convinced that their kid will be that Princess Skylar that we heard about last season. She was speculated to be Cadance's kid, but, when she wasn't seen in the series, people kinda forgot about her. I kinda hope that isn't the case, because I find the name "Skylar" to be too human. Wouldn't it just be the cutest if they name their kid after Twilight?
Overall, I rate this episode at a near-flawless 9.8 out of 10. The .2 reduction was from the strangeness of the voice acting. Mr. Cake sounded different to me, and it kind of bugged me. But that's just me being petty. Besides that, it was absolutely perfect. Just stellar.

well we already knew that alicorns are born because the sisters are natural alicorns. they never ascended.

3479204 Oh. Well, that certainly mitigates a big chunk of my theorizing. Still, there are questions to be answered here. How would it work with a mixed couple? I could only assume that both of the Regal Sisters' parents were alicorns. I wonder if an alicorn can be spawned with only one alicorn parent.
3479210 well considering that cakes who are earth ponies with a unicron AND a pegasus foals that are twins. Highly possible. Heck There is a toy out their named Skyla. She is the daughter of Cadance and Shining and is an alicorn.
My personal headcanon is that while they can have kids it's rare for one to be an alicorn. Thus why so few and ultimately why the Sisters are the last known till Cadance. I bet Discord took out the rest.
