Accounts of Oxidation II

This time I'm writing about "Brotherhooves social". I think the episode is super cute. I'm clearly going to have to talk about Mac's need to cross dress. It's weird. For some reason, though, I like the concept. Big Mac went extremely far to make his sister happy, and I think that is really awesome of him. I'm watching the episode as I write this, and I would really like to talk about the beginning. Applebloom makes a big show about everything her sister has done, and Applejack has done a lot, but she does it in front of him. I think this gives great conflict to Big Mac. It is refreshing to see him emote a little, even though it makes Applebloom look like a total byaych. I'm glad Sweetie isn't a jerk at the social because Rarity couldn't compete. Scootaloo is though. Orchard Blossom's design is freaking hilarious. For the rest of the post I will refer to Mac and Orchard as separate characters. Scootaloo is trying to be auto corrected into Tuscaloosa. Slightly disappointing that Firefox does not recognize best filly. Orchard Blossom's voice is absolutely horrid, but it's trying, and it isn't the worst I've heard. Everyone's suspicion at Orchard Blossom wasn't expected. I expected them to take the everypony is stupid and can't recognize cross dressing route. Not sure why, but I don't like the song. It's a nice message, as female oriented as it is, but I don't like the song, until the very end, when big mac sings in his regular voice. The second competition is funny enough. The jump roping is there. Juggling pins happens. I like Mac's attempt to be Orchard Blossom to help Applebloom, but I don't think it was well executed. I would have far prefered Mac to try and enter the Social with Applebloom as a brother, and learn a lesson about brothers having the same emotional bond as sisters. I did have myself a good laugh about the old pony that likes Orchard Blossom, especially when he looks disappointed that she is gone. I am glad that Big Mac got some great characterization. I don't think the writers had to go to the extremes they went to to get him some good character development. Over all, it was an episode. I really don't think it did anything special, aside from Big Mac's development. I want more Crusaders of the Lost Mark, and less episodes like Brotherhooves Social. Brotherhooves Social didn't bring much to the table that will change the show like Crusaders of the Lost Mark did, or like Magical Mystery Cure, that brought new changes that improved the course of the show.
