    I'm Coming Back!

It's been close to six years since I stopped Wilted Flower and/or any other content for that matter. Today at work I was listening to Stamp On The Ground but Italobrothers, and it reminded me of the fan video of Young Twilight and Cadence which features the aforementioned song.

    New Cover Art

Wilted Flower has new cover art, made vanilla and SFW thanks to The Abyss. Take a gander and let me know what you think; it may not be completely related to the story's theme, but it's definitely eye-catching.

If I'm going to continue writing it, I need all the traffic I can get.

    The Urge Has Returned

I've been very dormant on this site for as long as I can remember. I'd be half surprised if anyone even reads this blog, and if people do, I'd be even more surprised if they even give two shits about it. That being said and trying to keep this short, I'm planning to work on updating my main story, Wilted Flower. It's been a little over five years since I joined the site, and creeping up close to

How many of you guys/gals want to see me continue writing?

Ever since my (unwarranted?) jealousy of other, more popular writers creeped up on me and kicked me in the crotch, I've been thinking that my writing is rubbish and not worth anyone's time. I see plenty of HiE romance/clop writers getting praise and notoriety (two in particular), and in my personal opinion, some most of their stories are absolute shit. I know that a few, if not most of you even follow them, but I don't hold that against you. You like what you do, and I can't stop you from that.

What I'm interested in knowing, is what makes their stories so enjoyable? I pride myself on creating realistic and relatable human characters, and keeping the ponies true to their personalities. Some of the stories by the writers I'm referring to make the ponies completely OOC, or the human is an emo/wangsty bitch. Granted, I'm sure that a majority of the followers of the writers in question are [immature] teenagers, and that style of character is interesting to them, but seriously, does anybody want to read about characters that are genuine to how real people are? I know that MLP can be considered as a "fantasy", but the ponies have such strong human characteristics, only they're, well...ponies.

Maybe it's because I'm older than a majority of the site's users that I expect readers to want something other than the "horribly written human character falls in love with pony and then bangs her" kind of story. I want my readers to actually give a flying fuck about the human (and pony) character and his/her personality. Bonus points if I can get the reader to relate to the human and his situation on some level.

The gist of this blog is this: What does my writing say to you, the reader, and why do you enjoy it? This is the kind of input I need to keep me motivated to write, other than people saying "awesome story!!!11!!!!!".

I want u to keep writing I want to what going happen wilted flower it very good.

I, personally, prefer realistic stories, especially with romance and clop. It makes the story more relatable.

You may not be as popular as some of the other writers, but you only have two stories. I didn't get (somewhat) popular until I had six, and two of those were novel length. Even then, I'm nowhere near as popular as some other people on this site. Give it time. Write a few stories, and people will see how good you are.

fuck what the negitive wanks thing. i really like me a good HiM story. wilted flowers was a really good one then it stop getting updates. :(

The gist of this blog is this: What does my writing say to you, the reader, and why do you enjoy it?

Not to sound like a dick, but I'm looking for specifics on why people enjoy my story. Things like "I can relate to how the character(s) felt in this situation", or "I would have done the same thing".

I want my readers to become immersed in the story and not just read it because it's human x pony romance/clop.

I'm older than most myself. And as you stated I like stories where the characters are true to form. A mature level of civility and respect. Great things sprout from good beginnings. Also I think you are correct, most one shots start off with a relationship. No mention of how they came to be there or how the relationship began. From a purely clop standpoint I guess it's okay. But it's empty and sterile.

While I do enjoy reading that sort of thing. What I really appreciate is the time and effort a character has to go through in order to be with the one they want.

Now that's the kind of response I'm looking for! I want people to go deep and analyze and relate to my writing; they should get something out of it other than manual self-gratification. I pride myself on creating [human] characters that one would see/meet in the real world. Characters that you can say "Yeah, that's how I feel." or "I know someone who's like that."

Shameless smut is quite popular on this site, but I want to engross and engage readers. I think that's what separates me from some of the more "popular" HiE writers on the site.

Yeah, there are several factors in my cessation of writing, but they're a topic for a different and more private discussion. Also, I absolutely love your avatar. I'm a huge fan of Top Gear (the American version is shit), and had a hearty chuckle when I saw it.

Even then, I'm nowhere near as popular as some other people on this site.

Over 700 followers is not a bad achievement on this site. At all.

Also, you're Navy? I'm former military myself (Army aviation). Thank you for your service, brother-in-arms!

And you're the exact type of reader I'm trying to reach through my writing. Someone who's been "in the trenches" and experienced the types of things I convey in my stories. I'm not an expert with prose and such related stuff, but I do my best.

most of their stories are absolute shit

Then you should show 'em what-for!

I'm sure that a majority of the followers of the writers in question are [immature] teenagers, and that style of character is interesting to them

Actually, that's not entirely accurate, imo. You'd be surprised at the number of adults here, and furthermore, I think that even the angsty teens don't necessarily immediately identify with angsty teenage characters. I believe they'd more likely be interested in characters unlike themselves. Think about it: if you were a whiny teenager, would you really want to read stories about other whiny teenagers? I think they'd rather read about characters unlike themselves, they think their lives are so difficult, perhaps they'd like to read about someone else with different life problems.

You've read my stories?

3476133
Unfortunately if I were to do that, I'd be going to prison for quite a long time...

3476127 Thank you, as well. I had considered Army, but I wanted to travel and the Navy does that more than any other. I still get chills just from the memory of seeing the Northern Lights for the first time.

I want to see you write.

3476137 I meant to out-write them you numbskull... :rainbowderp:

I want to continue reading this, I want to see how all this goes through, and I want you to continue.

i mad this avitar back in 06. and it has been my avitar ever since :P i still have the original file on my old computer :P

A good fic to me is like a self made and run obstacle course.one that is layed out in the writers mind as to not go too off course and has and eventual end (I hate fics that just never get finished because of either lack of interest or end goal) . And that when the writer runs the course they avoid as many obstacles and pit falls as possible like the I'm too focused on getting home that I can stop every now to smell the roses or hello I am anon and in this romance tagged fic I am going to make the fact that I love the night, think stars are bautiful and that I am lonely. Who am I going to end up with? Or my personal favorites humans are a warlike peole who are in a constant state of war for trivial things like oil and money which is very quickly killing the planet.....but not me I'm a poor miss understood soul. And I hate such and such a pony so I'm going to write them in such a way as to show everyone how annoying they are(usually rarity and sometimes twi).

wow when did this turn into a long winded rant that could go on for a few paragraphs more if I thought about it? Point is dude the ovrrall plot could be done to hell and I wouldn't care as long as theres a bit ofan interesting twist to it, the main character is likeable and you avoid the obstacle/pitfalls I'll read it and most of your work does so I both read and enjoy it so I can't wait for more.

Stop being a faggot and get on writing!:ajbemused:

Get back to writing, there are stories to be finished.

I have really enjoyed your story, Wilted Flower, and would love to see it continued.

Please do!

I've been telling you this many times, and I'll tell you more times if I feel like it, but part of what writing's all about is to have fun getting your own stories on paper (or document in tech cases) and sharing it with people eager to read the kind of stories you write. Fame and being "the best" writer aren't what's important here, or you'll never be satisfied with what you're writing.

As for why I liked Wilted Flower, I may have to read it again after for so long, but part of it may be the realism that you try to put in your stories. I could almost feel the struggle the human's going through to adjust to his new life in Equestria while thinking over his feelings for ponies in an attractive sense. At the same time, you also show how hard Fleur hit rock bottom with not only her broken relationship with Fancy Pants, but also how that influenced to all the ponies around them as part of the higher class.

I think I'm speaking the same for many others, but we're really wanting to see what happens next in your story. What happens now is up to you and your power alone.

How many of you guys/gals want to see me continue writing?

All of us? :rainbowwild:

Ask a silly question... :raritywink:

Get writing, God damn you! You rock!

I have waited till now to give myself time to think what I want to say. I have never been good at the comparison of the whichness of the why style of review. I couldn't do it in college and I still can't. In reference to your writing I for one sincerely hope you continue I like your treatment of the relationship of Fleur and Jason. It is a change from the “you’re a pony I’m a human let’s fuck” story.
If your head cannon is different from others, just keep writing and put an AU label on it and keep on trucking.
As to other styles of writing. I am more familiar with SciFi and would like to recommend the following authors.
David Weber and John Ringo. The March series. Starts with “March Up Country”
Tim Zahn the Cobra Series.
S M Stirling “Dies the Fire” series
and last but not least David Drake the “Hammers Slammers” stories
Please keep up the good work, looking forward to more of “ Wilted Flower”
B.D.

It's been a very long time since I talked to you Armored.... and my stance from two years ago still remains. What you were writing is incredible and fun to read. Don't be jealous of other writers, yours is unique in its own right.

So I said it then, and I'll say it again, continue the story, because it is amazing.

Lots of stories/fics end up the same for me, regardless of genre and what the characters are like, true of movies and shows too, so I really can't give a definitive answer. :twilightblush:

my answer is yes and It is an answer that will never change,
i'm with you all the way bro.
