They say misery loves company. Not quite. I love Misery's company.

    Important Announcement

For this post, I will be abstaining from my usual routine of self-deprecating humor. I want to be serious about this.

Last Friday, I posted a bonus chapter for my story Chasing a Dream. I received a few comments from readers who were excited about the fact that the story wasn't dead.

Have you ever had one of those times... · 8:17pm Oct 16th, 2015

...where you've been watching a show for a while now and you've already formulated an opinion? The show is charming and funny and energetic and never takes itself too seriously? Then all of a sudden you notice a distinct shift in tone of the series and it begins to go in a different direction than you expected? Then it continues down that path, but still remains true to what it was when you first saw it? And the writing just consistently keeps getting better and better and better? Then you get to the finale and so many elements and tiny little things, hints at something greater scattered throughout the ordinary episodes, all come together into one truly breathtaking resolution that leaves you speechless because it's blown your mind out of your skull and onto the living room walls, staining the furniture and irritating your mom because now she needs to replace it after she removes your lifeless corpse out of the way, due to the inability to process how such a show can have such incredible writing and the shame of having ever doubted the show's potential?

That's Star vs. The Forces of Evil.

Never before in my life have I been so blown away by a show. And yes, I realize the irony of saying that on this site, but I can't help it. I have never before seen a show with writing so good that I loved literally every episode in the season (though to varying degrees).

I had the pleasure of watching the Season 1 finale to Star vs. this afternoon, and I'm struggling to properly convey my feelings about it. The entire second half of the season took on a much darker tone than the first half due to its focus on story over slice of life comedy. But like I said, they never stray from their roots - even the serious episodes have plenty of comedy scattered throughout. Atmosphere, lore, character development, I can't talk about everything that this show does right because I don't have the attention span to go into detail about every little thing.

I cannot possibly recommend this show enough. It is beyond human capabilities to express my adoration for it, and you need to see it, lest you forever miss out on the best cartoon I've ever seen.

That's right. Sorry MLP:FiM, Star vs. has taken your spot in my list of best cartoons.

It's okay though. You're still number two.
