New Audiobook by ThelifeonCloud9: All Nightmare Long

    Happy Nightmare Night, everypony!

As part of this year's Month of Macabre, ThelifeonCloud9 has released an audio production of my story All Nightmare Long. (Trivia time: Cloud9 got her start in fandom audio productions four years ago, with a bit part in Scribbler's production of another story of mind, Holder's Boulder.)

    Check it out below:

    Audiobook Directory

Over the years, several fandom YouTubers have created audio productions of stories from the Horse Voice bibliography. These are now very numerous, and so for the convenience of listeners, I have compiled them here.

Many thanks to those who liked my stories enough to create these great renditions.

    You Are Not Alone

This message is very, very late by the standards of the Internet. But my conscience won't let me rest until I say how I feel.

A week ago, news broke that former fan-author Jetfire2012 had taken leave of his sanity and picked a fight with an entire crowd... with predictable and well-deserved results.

Dear Ponies, Allow Me to Play You Out

Here in Canada, tomorrow is Thanksgiving Day. And so for myself and other Canadian bronies, the timing of Pony's finale, almost to the day, is quite fitting.

But really, who needs a red-letter day for thankfulness? This event may be bittersweet, but we can all be thankful for the good times, for the lessons that help us, for our creations, and for each other.

My Interview at BronyCon: Slightly Less Cringey Than I Expected

"Um, uh, uh, er, um, uh, y'know..."
    --Me

Surprise, everyone! One of my fans, Tyler Hinton, managed to find me at BronyCon 2019 and ask for an in-person interview. The result: About six minutes of me spilling my guts, interspersed with ten minutes of "um's." Luckily, Tyler edited the boring parts out, so my long, rambling answers don't drag on too much.

Scenes you want to see: Let's have 'em! · 7:52pm Oct 12th, 2015

Well, that was a big item off the ol' wish list, wasn't it?

Right now, EqD is running a poll on concepts for future episodes their readers would like to see. A lot Some of the ideas are good, but it seems like so many common fan-wishes have come true--especially this season--that we're now scraping the barrel for great ideas that haven't been used. So I want to hear what you still want to see.

To start, here are my wishes, not including those I share with the EqD readers:

The Return of Skorpan

Assuming he's still alive after all this time, there's no reason he shouldn't return for some dramatic purpose. Has he come to warn our heroes of some impending calamity? Or do they visit his homeland, of which we have only had a fleeting glimpse? Knowing a lot of these writers, it would be something making perfect sense in retrospect, but still being a surprise.

More Characters From the '80s Cartoon

Tirek, Skorpan, and the Smooze were a good start, but there's still this guy:

Grogar's schtick of ruling an ancient lost city was re-purposed for the season-three opener, but he could still be made useful with a redesign and a new MO, as Tirek was. Then there's Crunch the Rockdog, who petrified things with a mere touch. And a monster made of lava, and, and...

Star Swirl Speaks

Everyone talks about him, but despite being a combination of Isaac Newton and Themistocles, he hasn't had any actual screen time. It would be easy, since our heroes have a way of seeing backward in time, and at least the alicorns, and possibly Discord as well, had to have known him in person. Amazingly, no one has yet thought to ask them about it...

A Visit to Saddle Arabia

Genies. Magic carpets. Voyages to fantastic lands. The Arabian Nights is perhaps the oldest surviving short story collection ever written, and still one of the best. There is enough material in them to inspire a dozen episodes or more, so it would be a shame if they inspired none at all.

What have I missed?

Maybe an episode where the CMC get cutie marks that deal with their talents and are unique to each pony instead of the things they got slapped with?

Am I bitter? I feel like I'm bitter. I'm not bitter, I swear.

Maybe some stuff from G2 - and the Main 6 pointing out how ridiculous it all is.

Yes, a visit to Saddle Arabia would be fantastic!

Finally a chance for us and the Mane Six to see how ponies live, without magic.:pinkiegasp:

Or at least magic that they are not familiar with.:applejackconfused:

Plus, we need to see some foreign nations dammit! 5 seasons and we've only seen Griffinstone and Yakyakistan so far? Come on, they can do better.

an episode focused entirely on celestia

an episode that takes place on an airship (like that one archer one). unfortunately they've used up their whodunit quota for the next few seasons.

an episode that shows the wonderbolts actually using pegasus weather magic in a millitarized fashion, though i doubt that will happen.

cadance is pregnant (though there is an upcoming episode where this may happen. squee!)

another changeling episode

We've seen the Wonderbolts and the Royal Guard. I want to see the Navy.

A "paintball episode."

I could keep going, but it would just be war tropes.

I just want a Daring Do spinoff, really. No books. Actual animation. Adventuring while protecting the world from threats too occult for the heavy-hitters and taking shit from no one, even Celestia.

Zecora could be one of her contacts.

Can I have that?

No?

Aw.

An epic 2-parter where Celestia and Luna's lost evil father makes a return, voiced by Christopher Lee. ... Oh. Wait... :ajsleepy:

Some 2-parter involving Tartarus.

A flashback episode involving Rainbow/Gilda's youth in Junior Speedsters.

A villains-only episode where they're sitting at a table playing cards and talking about how they were this close to conquering Equestria.

2-parter with the "Nightmare Miasma" somehow infecting Celestia.

Origin story for the Princesses.

I'm sure I could think of more, but this is what came off the top of my head.

Didn't know you were such a fan of ol' DD. But now I kind of want to see the same. On that note, I know you're known for friendshipping, but have you ever considered taking a crack at this idea? :3

3465014

They've just gotta, now that the budget is bigger. The only sticking point is that most countries in this world are separated by dangerous hinterland. Still, if Zecora and those Saddle-Arabians can get through...

3465222 Yeah, can't imagine it's just foreigners that can travel freely to and from Equestria, that would be weird.

I really want to see what it's like in Saddle Arabia, since the diplomats sent from there were so astounded by unicorn magic, what's it like living in Arabia then if that's the case?

Or how about a visit to whatever country the Minotaurs live in, now that would be cool!

3465142 we've seen the equestrian ocean in the comics but have we ever seen it in the show? Beyond the harbor of Manehattan.

The only thing I want in life is Luna and Applejack being transported to a post apocalyptic wasteland for a two parter Mad Max explosion fest culminating in doomed love and one liners

I'm easily pleased, I know

Celestia and Luna bickering over something minor. Not like in Slice of Life, I want it as the premise of the episode. Bonus points if Twilight honestly can't wrap her head around Celestia getting so upset over something so trivial.

Discord attempting to bond with someone other than Fluttershy.

Something with changelings. Don't even care what; surprise me.

This would have to be a movie, but I want to see the cast of Equestria Girls actually end up in Equestria. I feel like I could be entertained for two hours just by them freaking out at all the magic and weird creatures while Sunset is basically just surprised by how much happened while she was gone.

3465330 in your dark heart you know that would be an adventure worth the price of admission

"EAT LEAD SUGARCUBE"

"Oh, most appline of Jacks in the heat of battle most tea ailing I have found myself unquestionably regaled in lust for you!"

"Aw hell never mind that princess just drive the car while I teach these raider varmints how to die with their horseshoes on!"

Luna tries not to swoon

Though I prefer to just let the creative team come up with whatever and surprise me, I do want to know what's up with Zecora and why she left her zebra homeland.

Aside from that, I just have a general desire for more serialization and adventure.

The Arabian Nights is perhaps the oldest surviving short story collection ever written, and still one of the best.

The One Thousand and One Nights isn't really set in Saudi Arabia, though. It's a Persian frame story which Arabic and European translators basically threw all sorts of fantastical tales from distant lands into. The weirder stuff happens in India or China.

3465221

A villains-only episode where they're sitting at a table playing cards and talking about how they were this close to conquering Equestria.

"It was a big rock."

3465222

Oh, Daring is one of my Top Five. I just can never seem to be able to competently write anything involving her. :raritydespair:

My GDrive is littered with Daring Do story corpses and abortions, sir. Littered.

::cries, then gets back to writing Shadowbolts friendshipping::

I'd like to hear music in the show that isn't pop music. Anyone remember when that used to happen? I didn't like a single song last episode. I can tell it's good pop music, but I can't really enjoy it.

3464994

Sometimes the show writers are really creative and all... and this wasn't one of those times. I don't dislike the resolution there and all, but... meh. I guess this way they get all three of them done in the same episode or whatever. Bit of a letdown after finally seeing Rarity and RD have some time with each other. Hopefully they do better with Spike? (Hahahahaha no.)

A Visit to Saddle Arabia

HAHAHA no

um

Yeaaaaaaah, how do I put this.............

Let's just say the world has changed since Aladdin was released lol. :ajsmug:

3469117

Saudi Arabia is pretty much the same today as it was in 1992, actually. If anything, it's slightly better -- which isn't saying much, since you can still be publicly beheaded for such heinous crimes as adultery, apostasy, and false prophecy. They've been deeply in bed with the United States for decades, which is why they've largely escaped the turmoil in the region and remained a stable regime.

Unless you mean the short story "Aladdin and the Wonderful Lamp" in the One Thousand and One Nights, which is set in China.

Characters defined by more than their tramp-stamp. But as for things that are actually realistic, Hasbro referencing their other franchises. A Dungeon Master's Guide in the wreckage of Twilight's library would have had me laughing my ass off.

3465014 Equestrians aren't allowed to visit countries with forms of government other than a supreme monarch, or that make Equestria look bad by comparison. That basically leaves the stans.

3464994 It is weird how the show humorously highlighted how obvious it was what their cutie marks should be (Apple Bloom = engineering, Sweetie = performing, Scootaloo = speed and daredevilism), then threw it away.

3465064 Don't be ridiculous.

(Actually, it's not canonical that ponies get pregnant, or do any of that reproduction stuff. It might all be storks.)

3494569

I am now going to quote this out to every Conversion Bureau fan I come across. :trollestia:

Episode I want to see is an educational 1 that makes it clear the differences between the following: forcing ones own self/group onto other(s), being tricked into making out, deciding to make out/go along with the make out session without fully understanding what they are getting into, mutually deciding to make out with full understanding of all the risks, and choosing to avoid the make out session; without going to the porno or hentai extreme(s).
