This Weeks Episode: Crusaders of the Lost Mark A.K.A. I Guess Every Season gets a Musical Now, and This One Makes me Wanna Listen to the Megas, and also Makes me think of Gravity Falls · 7:56pm Oct 10th, 2015
I'm fully aware how later I am, but I have a full fledged explanation!
I started orientation for work yesterday (by the way I got a job, go me) but I didn't get to sleep till like midnight, woke up at 5, couldn't sleep again, was at orientation nine to six, came home, ended up passing out at like eight, and eventually woke up, tried to go to sleep, sleep, said screw it, played Borderlands till four.
Anyway, on to the episode!
It starts with another failed exploration of the Crusaders, followed by... singing, singing isn't bad but just when it's before the opening theme you know this is a musical episode, come on people you'll never top last season, YOU HAD WEIRD AL!
Anyway, Pip busts in and asks for help getting him elected, little trivia about me, I HATE POLITICS! Lucky this is pretty small in the grand scheme of things.
Anyway, music about vote for Pip, no vote for Diamond, long story short Pip Wins and that filly with super strength is adorable.
And the whole time, I couldn't help but think like Stan namely.
Diamond goes home, and honestly, I've made parallels between her and Pasifica before, but her mother, just wow her mother.
Seriously, not to mention she's basically to Diamond like Pasifica's father is, overall this episode itself feels like it draws parallels to Northwest Manor Mystery, but not as good because TO MUCH SINGING! Also no murderous lumberjack ghost killed by his own ax a hundred years ago.
Anyway, more music about Diamond feeling bad about being rich and being told how she should be, you know like how Pasifica was sick of being told how to act high society, seriously they even basically reminded me of Gravity Falls when they asked if it was wrong to feel bad about Diamond, it reminds me of Mabel's quote when she was beating Pasifica at Mini Golf
Dipper, is it bad that I feel good about her feeling bad?
I'm sorry, also her song about not knowing what to do? Made me think of the Megas!
Anyway, the crusaders ask Diamond to join them at their clubhouse to perk her up, understandable her mother is unbearable, and her best friend dumped her.
Anyway, Pip comes by to exclaim that they weren't getting the playground equipment, followed by another song which AGAIN made me think of the Megas because History Repeating: RED because it's mostly about Proto Man coming to terms with being Break Man.
Anyway, Diamond tells her dad to donate to get the equipment, another song, and the Crusaders decide to give up on hunting their marks and help others realize theirs, a huge flash BAM the crusaders finally have their marks!
Their purpose is to help others figure out their purpose.
Everything's happy, also we get confirmation that AJ's parents are gone, HAVE FUN!
So overall? Well, it wasn't a bad episode, though I agree it feels rushed, and I blame the songs honestly, the episode was mostly music, not bad music, again I felt like listening to the Megas, and they were all appropriate, but I think that such an important episode should have had more actual dialog, it feels like they wrote it, lost track of time, and just filled it with songs to pad it out.
I mean come on, I didn't feel that way about Pinkie Pride, but that also had Weird Al so it just felt more natural, but this really feels like they wanted to cram in a musical, or they wanted to do the episode, forgot, and rushed.
It's not bad, but I feel it could have been so much more without all the singing.
Anyway, next week's episode: The One Where Pinkie Pie Knows, all I can say is finally another Pinkie episode, I love Pinkie and it's about time.
