I saw The Martian · 1:59am Oct 7th, 2015
You should see The Martian. Just trust me on this one.
Oh, also, two words to keep in mind while watching it: maritime law.

Okay, now I wanna see it just to see how an astronaut stranded on Mars somehow has something to do with maritime law.
Amen.

Having just got back from seeing the movie, you won't be disappointed. And there's far more humor were that came from too.
<Joke about America spending money on saving Matt Damon goes here>
Been hearing alot about it being good. Maybe I had better watch it... Ugh, I still haven't even seen Kingsman.
It's an excellent adaptation of the book. Matt Damon is a dead ringer for the character of Mark Watney, and if you can suspend your disbelief long enough to get through the event that sets off the story—something the author freely admitted was contrived to start the plot rolling—the science is fairly sound, for the most part. It drops a couple of the crises Watney faces—probably for reasons of running time—and over-dramatizes the final set piece (you just couldn't resist the Iron Man mention in the book, Mr. Scott, could you!), but is nonetheless enjoyable.
And whose idea was it to cast Sean Bean as Mitch Henderson? It made the "secret meeting" (a.k.a., "Project Elrond") joke from the book absolutely priceless in the film!

Well, George Clooney was stuck in Tomorrowland for a year or so until the dimensional portal was repaired, and Brad Pitt was reportedly stuck in quarantine while being re-immunized for World War Z 2, so it didn't have much of a choice.
Read the book and loved it, but that usually means the movie will end up disappointing me. However this is sounding like it is shaping up to be one of the rare cases where that doesn't happen.
Seen it, I'm recommending it to everybody and thinking about buying the book.
