OH MY GOD, I'M JUST GOING TO MAKE THIS POST AND GET IT OUT OF THE WAY · 1:34pm Oct 4th, 2015
Based on the title, you may think this is one of my happy, perky, "ooh-it's-a-butterfly!" blogs. But NO. I'm going to be blogging something that has been peeving me for a very long time.
RANTS. A lot of people here rant on this site.
Look, I know you do this to blow off steam, but seriously, STOP. It doesn't make it any better.
But what I absolutely HATE is when people add in, "Don't pity me. I don't deserve it." or something like that. Because basically, you're saying, "Pity me as much as you can, because I just LOVE attention." Then, if you rant on a regular basis, people start to believe you aren't really upset and you just want people to feel sorry for you.
If this isn't your goal, I'm sorry to seem harsh. But if you are trying to do this, not funny!
So now you know. If you're looking for my sympathy when you rant, stop. Because it annoys me and I get upset that people think of themselves like that (if they aren't attention-seeking). So from now on, I'm not commenting on rants- even if my friends are the ones ranting. I'm sorry, but this is how I feel.
Also, to avoid controversy in the comments, I know it may seem like I'm ranting too. But no, I'm not saying, "It's okay for me to rant, but not everyone else." I'm just stating how I feel, and I think it would be better if people follow this advice.

What do you find funny about this?
3441702 the irony
I can't remember if I showed you this before, but it was my reinterpretation of your old avatar:

I'm for real about this, okay?
3441706
Are you trying to make me laugh?
But I think I just found my new avatar.
3441708 So if I go through your blogs I won't find any self pitying rants?
3441714
You seemed like you needed cheering up.
3441719
Not that I know of. I remember making blogs expressing that I want to talk to someone about what happened, but no, I'm pretty sure I never made a blog like that.
3441725 Interesting
3441724
Thanks, I guess.
And no, you never showed that to me.
3441727
Why, is there one?
3441734 I'm not sure I haven't checked
3441730
I made it, was going to show you, but then the next day you changed your username and avatar, so the joke no longer worked.
3441744
Yeah, but still. You should've showed me!
I completely agree with ya, Star. People rant, you find they're not really upset and just want attention, you get pretty peeved. I know, I've felt like this too. I've seen a lot of ranting, but I just ignore it sometimes. I'm trying my hardest not to get pissed over everything now, and it's a pretty hard job, trying to keep my anger under control, but thanks to you guys and FimFic, I think I might be able to.

Wow, I thought I was the only one. Considering the majority of this site rants about stuff.
3441834 Nope, you're not the only one.
What exactly do you consider to be ranting, just out of curiosity?
3442302
Well, stuff like when people make posts about personal stuff happening in their life (which I believe they shouldn't be sharing out here, with people they never met in real life), and feeling so sorry for themselves, stating they want to kill themselves, don't want pity, stuff like that.
Also, when people make blogs with a title like, "I'm a F*cking B*tch" and the post is all about how they think they're stupid and worthless in their life.
You know, stuff like that. And, like I said in the post I made, if they do it often, people get annoyed (some, like me, express it, as I did in this post) and believe they're only seeking attention.
3442564 Hmm I think it depends on a few things.
Like, the number of times they actually post stuff like that. Some people are just having a bad day and want to get it off their chest.
And also, whether or not they have a condition. Like for example, I have depression, social anxiety, PTSD, agoraphobia and some other nervous disorders. I don't go making blogs about his every day, mind you, but sometimes I bring it up when talking about something else that relates to my life because, well, I have those conditions. :/ You can't change who you are.
The thing that bothers me is when people post suicide blog posts or drama posts like every other week to get followers. I saw on person in particular who made these blog posts and netted about 300 in two months because all he posted was sympathy grabbing posts. I don't like people who do unnecessary things to get watchers in general though. Like paying people to like their stories. Yes, there are people on this site (and others) who do that. And that is why I hate the upvote system on sites.
While I can completely understand what you're saying, I think it also depends on if people are having a bad day, as LyraAlluse stated, and how it is said. For example, I wrote a blog a while back about how I'd had a hard day, but I made sure to just state facts, and express that I was upset about this. I didn't do it to seek pity, and I didn't do it in a way that said I was. Just straight-up, honest facts. I think if people express themselves in this way, there is no real harm.

I get it if they express themselves, but most of the time- like I said- they say, "Don't pity me or reassure me; I don't deserve it." Which basically means- like I said- "I want attention, comment on this post! NOW!"
3447494
True. But I've talked with some of these people, and they feel awful for doing it, whether it was the first time or the latest in a string, but they're truly hurting because of some underlying issue that they may recognize but have no control over, and do need some reassurance and love.
But of course, there are the ones out there who just do it for the attention, as you say. Those are the ones to avoid.
3447498
True, but you really don't know for sure if they want attention or not. That's why it's best to avoid all of them, in my opinion.

Fair point.
