Hey, so as the title suggests, this will be my first blog post on FiMFiction. Hey, so as the title suggests, this will be my first blog post on FiMFiction. So, I would like to get a couple of things out of the way concerning the current story I'm working on and what made me want to write it and such. I've noticed I got a lot of people favoriting it (and I really thank you guys for that, it feels kind of awesome) so I feel I am responsible for letting the people who are interested in my story know what to expect. There will be no spoilers here concerning the story itself OR the world it is crossing over with.

So, reasons why I wanted to write this story over, say, a regular MLP story concerning the Mane Six or other characters. Well, to be honest, I like crossovers. I like seeing other worlds mingle with each other. I want to see my favorite characters interact and see the different character chemistry at work. However, I do have my limits. I don't like crossovers that change too much of the setting. By that I mean like certain characters have a complete turn-a-round over there personality and what they would actually do. Like say, Sonic holding a knife to Bowser Jr.'s throat and threatening him and his soldiers to put their weapons down and tell him where the damn fourth chaos emerald is. That is completely against what Sonic's character is. So, I obviously don't like stories such as Cupcakes for the reasons I have stated. So with Final Fantasy XIV: Equestria, my biggest challenge is to keep the MLP Cast in character and having them work alongside elements from Final Fantasy XIV.

Second reason, I like big grand adventures. When I think of a huge adventure where a bunch of heroes come together to save the world from an ultimate evil, I think of three franchises: Final Fantasy, The Lord of the Rings, and Super Smash Brothers Brawl's Subspace Emissary. Subspace Emissary being one of my bigger inspirations for wanting to do crossover stories, even if it was pretty much wordless. I like to see heroes come over impossible odds, admitting and overcoming their faults, and saving the world in the end. So, for a first story, I'm kind of biting off way more than I can chew in terms of how grand and big this is eventually going to be.

My third and last reason for wanting to write this story is one part selfish and the other sad. I miss doing live role-playing sessions that had this sort of stuff. Chatting with friends and playing as our favorite characters in this big huge adventure spanning many different worlds and meeting new friends and foes. It eventually got out of hand and one of my friends has hit a point where he's unable to do anything because of stress, anxiety attacks, and other things. I love to play Dungeons and Dragons and this has affected even that. So, in a way, this is me coping with recent events while also giving my brain something to do, even if I am extremely rusty with my writing skills. I haven't written a story this big for five years, and that was in High School, where my mind was ripe and exploding with creativity. Not that I'm not saying I'm not creative anymore, it's suppressed by other things going on in real life, so it has now become hard for me to express my creativity without making a fool of myself and falling down into a depressing hole. I've climbed out of that whole several times, but eventually I won't have a rope to pull myself back up with. So, yeah, writing this story is in of itself a selfish deed, and I kind of feel bad about that.

Ahem, sorry about that last paragraph being pretty depressing towards the end, but I just wanted to get that off my chest. So there you have it! My first blog post about the reasons why I want to write this story. If you guys are interested in talking about Final Fantasy 14 and/or the story, feel free to use this particular blog post as a source of discussions! As a wise man once said, "Please look forward to it."
