Author Update 10/2/15 - Death Was Optional! Weird Pony Poetry! · 6:04am Oct 2nd, 2015

Hey, all you lovely people! Some quick stuff to talk about today...

First of all, after about four days, Death is Optional has fallen out of the Featured Box. Thanks to everyone who read and liked it! It was just a stupid thing that I wrote one morning when I probably should have been sleeping, so I'm glad so many people liked it. But, more importantly...

Pay no attention to the green thumb

By God, look at those downvotes! I was hoping beyond hopes that I would make 100 downvotes before I left the box, and thanks to the generosity of all those readers (who are most certainly not reading this blog), I reached my goal. I hope to work with you all again! And thanks to MythrilMoth for teaching me what a 'City of Angels' was!

About three weeks ago, wonderful writer and even better person Horizon released a story entitled Last Dreams of Pony Island. A collection of poetry, Last Dreams followed the final dreams and thoughts of a failed Equestrian colony called Myinnkyun, and challenged readers to solve a sizable number of mysteries about the colony, such as who murdered one of its inhabitants, and the identity of the mysterious "Palei Hantu." It's a wonderful collection, and I suggest that anyone who has the time check it out.

More important to this blog, however, is what came after. Immediately following the story's release, Horizon organized the "Dream a Little Dream of Me" poetry contest. This contest, held over two weeks, had the goal of finding a final chapter to complete the story. Entrants were asked to write their own continuations, using their own interpretations of the mysteries presented in Last Dreams.

And now, two days after the end of the contest, I'm proud to announce...

...my poem "Shame! Shame" won Reader's Choice! It was an extremely close vote, and I'm thankful to everyone who read and voted for me. Special thanks to my good friends and even better writers Hazeyhooves, Foehn (who won Second Place!), and Not_A_Hat (who very nearly beat me out! :twilightsheepish:) for helping me edit and giving me advice.

If you want to read the poem, you can find it here: https://www.fimfiction.net/story/291045/12/dream-a-little-dream-of-me/11-shame-shame
I spent a lot of time working on it, and I'm extremely proud of how it came out. Thanks again to Horizon for putting all this together!

Love you guys. Hope you all have an amazing weekend!
