HazMat Contest Review #4: Clue · 12:20pm Sep 29th, 2015

Clue, by Zhane0220

There's not much to say about this one. At one chapter in it barely makes it past 1K words, and there simply isn't enough of the story for it to be satisfying. It's not even anachronistic as of yet, since only one scene was written, and that scene was told within chronological order.

That's not to say incomplete stories are worthless. In fact, if the story got a bit further, we might have had more to form a solid opinion on. As it is, the conflicts and 'meat' of the story has yet to make an appearance. It felt more like a prologue than anything.

It also had a few technical issues that made the little that was there just a bit sub-par. The dialogue is very blunt and the scene doesn't waste any time on descriptions or pacing, which makes the 1K words feel like they were rushed. If more time had been taken to elaborate on what the characters were going through, instead of rushing to the premise (and getting across that they were trapped in a game) it might have gone over better.

The story might have potential beyond that, but unfortunately, I can't really say for sure since I don't have enough to make a proper assumption. Simply put, there needs to be more of it for me to discuss it in greater detail. Maybe it was going to be great, maybe it was going to be terrible. It's not clear at this stage.

Yeah, I was going to try and finish it, but, school. I kinda forgot about it and stuff, hehe.:rainbowderp: but thanks for at least reading it! I will be on the look out for the next contest though to see if it's something I have time to do. Thanks for reading it even if there wasn't very much to read.
