Miss Koi Reviews "Made in Manehattan"...Did I spell Manenathan right? · 12:37am Sep 28th, 2015

Here we are! Finally, my review of the...I'm just to call this episode "The Rarity, Applejack, and Coco Pommel Show"-_-
Since I love Coco Pommel, when I heard that Coco was going to be in episode, I was excited:D Plus, we get the Cutie Map and Rarity & Applejack pair up, so lots of great elements:)! And my thoughts:

I'm just going to score right out: 7 out of 10 hearts. Sorry "The Rarity, Applejack, and Coco Pommel Show":'(
It's weird, the beginning of the episode, the episode's moral, the references, and the use of theatre as a framing device was great:D BUT...everything else was not entertaining and they didn't use Coco Pommel properly. The journey to the conclusion of the episode wasn't a fun adventure for me, and Coco felt like an unnecessary character for the story. WHY WRITERS?! WHY DID YOU DO THIS TO MY LITTLE COCO?!

All those bad reasons almost took some of the joy from the really good stuff. BUT...not all the way of course;)
The beginning of the episode was hilarious because Twilight is bored. She has already read every book in her library, and is just begging for adventure. Then, the Cutie Map calls! Twilight's hope! But then dash! Cutie Map just wants Rarity and Applejack:P Don't worry Twilight, I'm sure that a future episode will touch on your dilemma and the Cutie Map will call on you for an adventure for the finale;)

Then, we get Rarity's delightful enthusiasm for Manehattan, enthusiasm to help other ponies' fashion problems, and Applejack's nervousness about the big city. But luckily, we get sweet and confident Rarity to help AJ's confidence in the big city. Like she said, being in the big city is all about being confident and refined;)
And then we get references like Louie Vitution on Rarity's traveling suit case

and The Peanuts:D Especially on The Peanuts!:D We get a pony looking like Charlie Brown, the therapy booth, and Rarity saying "Good Grief!";)
Being someone who took some classes on theatre history and being a theatre geek overall, I deeply enjoyed the references to theater troupes, local theater productions, and troupes performing in communal places like parks just like the actual theatre troupes did in years past. And still do today if I might add:) This Charity Kindheart sounds like a really cool character, especially when the audience got to know alittle bit on her back story. I wished we got to meet her and I wished the actors weren't so over the top when performing the very humble and sweet story. But nevertheless, the play at the end served as a great framing device for the episode conclusion to follow and certainly helps bring your audience in.

(Look at dat Wizard of Oz reference! So cute:3)
But my favorite part of the episode was the moral:D The episode teaches us that in charity or volunteer work, you don't have to become the star helper or leader of the event to make a big difference. What makes a big difference is every pony helping out and each of them doing a small but significant part in the project. If every pony lends a helping hoof and donate a small part of their time, the charity or project can become something bigger and wonderful. It can make a difference in your life and the life of your community. Coming from someone who has done charity and volunteer work all their life, this message hit home with me because it's soooo true. We don't need just a few people doing all the work for the cause, we need everyone's help because everyone can make a difference. All you have to do is have good intentions, donate a small part of your time and effort, and the world becomes a better place to be<3 One person at a time<3
SPOILER TIME!: This episode mentions the Sister Hooves social, and I think the next episode is called Brother Hooves Social. According to the synopsis, it deals with Big Mac and Apple Bloom. But according to this episode, apparently Sweetie Belle might be part of this fun;)

Aww, thanks AW:twilightsmile::heart:
The reason why I haven't commented on your review yet because you and I have very similar thoughts on the episode and felt like I would be repeating myself if I commented. I'm sorry.
