Thoughts on the newest episode · 4:56pm Sep 26th, 2015
So, "Made in Manehattan" just came on. As per usual, here are some here-and-there thoughts on a new ep:
So, Twilight's still upset about the map not giving her a job. This has been going on for a while, so it might have some major significance later on.
Another Rarity episode! And with Applejack to boot! They've always been one of my favorite two-character dynamics, and watching them play off of each other was delightful. You're never quite sure who's the funny girl and who's the foil.
COCO'S BACK!
I'm starting to see the theme in these cutie map episodes. Two ponies get called to the scene. They try to figure out the problem, but the problem itself is shaking right in their faces, making it hard for them to see what needs to be done. First one or two attempts on a bad hunch end in failure. They figure out the real problem, find the way to solve it, their cutie marks glow, and that's that. I thought the method this time was a little disjointed from the rest of the episode (how did they know that's what needed to be done?), but I like the message about how giving a lot of time and effort isn't always necessary, and that one person (or pony) doing a little good can make all the difference.
Did anyone catch the Peanuts reference? Good grief!
Overall, not a bad episode. Nothing spectacular, but nothing to complain about, either.
R.I.P. Applejack's hat
And later tonight: FRIENDSHIP GAMES! Looking forward to it!
I wonder what Twilight and Fluttershy will be doing...IF TWILIGHT GETS TO GO!!!
3421237 That would make sense, considering there the only two of the six that haven't been called yet.
What Peanuts reference? Please tell me! (might have missed it, a stupid add came on and made me miss a good chunk of the episode)
3421249 Yeah, I'm just trying to find out which episode it is, since the episode list is pretty vague so far...
3421254 Rarity was sitting at a "friendship advice stand" on the side of the road (just like Lucy's psychiatry stand ), and when no one shows up, she says "Good grief!"
Can't wait to watch EQG:FG.

Will Applejack get her hat back?
3421289 You'll have to watch the episode to find out.
3421289 If you saw the episode, I can tell you. But I don't wanna spoil it.
3421295 Okay then.
3421262 Oh, that! Yeah, I saw that (at the end, though, before the scene change. Dumb ads!) I didn't hear her say 'good grief', though. :(
3421296 I guess that explains how AJ's hat was missing in that singer animatic.
This episode seemed like a thing that just happened. As soon as I saw that Rarijack and Applejarity (I couldn't resist) were going, I was just like, "welp, another shipping episode. Next thing we know, it's gonna be a FlutterSparkle episode!" Yada yada yada.
And, yes, RIP in piece AJ's hat.
Applejack is always funny.
This was a nice episode. Hopefully Twilight gets to go on one.
Remember that worker pony and that light-purple pony towards the end?
(I ship it)
I also saw Dinky, or at least someone who looked like her...
And now that the hat's been replaced, I think that pretty much kills the theory that the hat belonged to Applejack's parents and therefore had some higher meaning to it.
Meh. I thought the last couple of episodes were kind of boring. I can add this to the boring episode list of season five. The full list would be; Princess Spike, Party Pooped, Canterlot Boutique, Appaloosa's Most Wanted, and Now Made In Manehattan. But five episodes out of the whole season still really isn't too bad.

Now that you mentioned that...... yup, caught the reference LOL
There's a little detail I couldn't help but notice about the setting in this episode:
(don't take this too seriously tho)
Isn't that park a public space? Isn't Manehattan a developed metropolis? Where the hell are the public employees tasked with the maintenance of the parks and plazas of that neighborhood? Why are the (designated) public institutions not making sure to take care of those green spaces and cultural activities to keep them from falling into nothing?
Where is the funding that is supposed to go there? What is the Manehattan government plotting?
3427609 You have to remember, Manehattan is based on New York. If New Yorkers cared, I'm sure Manehattanites would, too.
3427643 Oh I'm sure the general Manehattan/NY population would surely not care. I mean those public services whose job descriptions are specifficaly the maintenance that is missing :P In theory they would care only about that otherwise they would be out of a job
