Soaring Symphony

I'm just a simple guy who loves reading (mostly MLP fanfics) and hopes to be a good writer myself someday and, hopefully, also get involved with music somehow (notice the microphone cutie mark).

It has to be more than two years at this point since I fell out of writing my weird little clopfic Two's Company.

My nightmare · 6:20am Sep 24th, 2015

There’s a story I wrote called “One dark night”, that’s heavily based on a nightmare I had one night. If you haven’t read that story yet, I highly recommend you go read it first. You can find it here.

So here’s how it went, as best as I can remember. I remember it started out with my older cousin, a girl named Franny, dying. I don’t remember how she died or why. I just remember that she did.
The next thing I remember after that, I was alone on an Island, not attached to the sea floor like an island should be but floating adrift on the surface. The island held a large graveyard and among those graves was Franny’s tombstone. I had fallen down on my knees, crying. The pure pain and sorrow of it washed over me. It felt all too real.
The next thing I remember after that, I was standing on a dock on the island’s shoreline. A massive bolder was jutting out of the water. On top of that bolder rested a bizarre structure. It appeared to be made out of black marble. It had a flat roof but no walls. Only four support beams that would have acted as corners had any walls existed. Another small dock, oddly enough, was jutting off of this structure and it lined up perfectly with the one I was standing on. Inside this structure were even more oddities. There were two bronze torches positioned symmetrically inside with blue flames wafting off of them. On the ground were two perfectly round pools of water, also positioned symmetrically, that were who knows how deep. Swimming inside those pools were a twin pair of electric eels. Positioned in the center, towards the back, was a stone table, its sides cut even with the top. A little boy was lying asleep on that table. And I swear, he looked like the kid from “The Ring”. If anything happened in this part of the dream afterwards, I don’t remember it.
The next thing I remember, I was standing in a hotel room of some sort. Don’t ask me how I know it was a hotel. I just do. What I do remember, however, is that my little sister, Michelle, was lying dead on the floor next to the bed. Standing above her, his breathing heavy and a crazy look in his eyes, was that same little boy. A bloody dagger was in his hand. He had slit my little sister’s throat.
After that, I dreamed I had woken up. I didn’t actually wake up. It was still part of the dream. Still asleep, I dreamed I was sitting up in my bed. My bedroom looked exactly as it normally would. Standing in the doorway, the hallway light flooding in behind her was my mother. She had thrown the door open and it banged against the wall. Keep in mind, this was still part of the dream. I hadn’t actually woken up yet.
I said “mom, what are you doing in here?”
Do you know what her response was? “You don’t know what you have until it’s gone.”
That’s when I woke up for real with those final, profound words still fresh on my mind.

Do you see how this was the inspiration of the fanfic. I didn’t make any of this up. Well, it’s from a dream so I guess I technically made it up. But I didn’t think of it consciously.
