Been hellish busy recently, and it's not been fun.
Had some family trouble as well, seems illness just won't leave us alone. On the bright side I've had more time to refine the story and work on it. Expect a new update this week.
Also, it's a great month for games. Doom, Witcher 3: Blood and Wine, Overwatch, Prophecy League for Path of Exile.
There is a trend at work that is really irritating, and almost infuriating. The reaction to the criticism of Rey is absolutely insane. I think I'm going to have to write another rant blog about this stupidity.
And since it involves fan fiction, and this is a fanfiction site, it'll be perfect.
But seriously. Disney has me. First Star Wars, then this. My childhood, if there were ever two pieces of media to define it. And you know what? I'm okay with that.
I'm sorry to be the you-know-what in the punch bowl, but I continue to be disappointed that NO so-called "Jungle Book" picture is ever loyal to Kipling's original stories, which were masterpieces (Mowgli is a far superior character to Tarzan). If only someone would make a picture loyal to Kipling's vision I believe it would be a big hit, but it doesn't look like we'll ever see it. The 1967 animated feature was notoriously disconnected to the actual stories.
And of course the key to the whole thing is what they do with Kaa. In the actual "Jungle Book" Kaa is a good guy and a mentor to Mowgli, just like Bagheera and Baloo. But no, Walt Disney didn't like snakes, so now every so-called "Jungle Book" movie has to have a villainous Kaa.
Every time I hear the idea of a "Jungle Book" picture mentioned I have some hope. When will I ever learn?
Kaa is a legit mentor to Mowlgi and rescues him from the Bandar-log monkeys.
The whole "We be of one blood" thing.
From what I heard this is going to be a kind of melding of the two, but I'm not sure what that'll mean. As for me, though. I'm not salty about it. I grew up with the 1967 movie. So i'm attached. I feel as though the original Kipling version would be hard to make as a film. It could probably be done, but it just seems too... I dunno... Literature-y. That probably doesn't make sense. Whatever.

3397806 Nah, man. I hear ya. I've read it.

And yeah, I never cared for Tarzan.
I could go either way on this. This could be great or horrible. Only time will tell...
