Wow...I'm kind of amazed Winds of Change got this far. Grateful, certainly, but still kind of surprised, too. This whole thing started out as an idea I ran with after a near decade long hiatus from fanfiction and finally ended with my first ever complete multi-chapter story. So...four months after the fact, where do things stand?
Well, I've had a sequel in the works for quite a while now. Things have been going at a slow, steady pace through the pre-planning phase and I've been taking pains to make sure that everything is written up in an outline before I start actually writing out the story this time. That outline is almost done and sitting at about forty pages right now and spans a potential 12 chapter story that will be a direct sequel to Winds of Change.
In the meantime though, Winds of Change itself is undergoing a pretty massive editing spree. None of the core content is being changed so you're certainly not required to re-read or anything, but thanks to the help of another of my editors, everything is more grammatically sound and structured. You can track the editing progress on the story page as each chapter is complete.
So when are you going to start seeing this new story?
Well I can't give you an exact date. In addition to having a full time job now, I fully intend to have this story go through the wringer before I actually release it. That means having each chapter run the editing circuit and possibly even having the whole story completed, just to encourage myself to keep on writing it. Rest assured that the sequel is coming though. If at any point I decide not to go through with it, I'll definitely post the outline somewhere as compensation.
In the here and now though, I'm incredibly pleased that I've broken that invisible 1000 barrier and grateful for all of the support this story has been given, and I'm going to make damn sure that the sequel can deliver on the goodwill of the first.
A return of Queens Azure and Crimson as they cope - much like Chrysalis - with their newfound appreciation for cooperation with Equestria? I can't wait!
Well I gotta tell you, Winds of Change is one of my favourite stories on the site; it's nudged me into trying to horsewords myself (it's tough going I dunno how you do it!). I'm squirming in anticipation of the sequel.
>do want
Winds of change is fairly good, though the ending felt a bit smooth, I would have expected Rainbow to argue more.
Still, looking forward to the sequel.

Trust me, my editor has found several places where I've slipped up. Even the show itself uses the word 'man' on occasion.

I'd say I sort of intentionally did it that way on the off-chance that I never got around to the sequel. Things were relatively smooth and optimistic so that the reader could infer a positive outcome if they so desired and I didn't want to leave my audience with a cliff hanger if I couldn't deliver on it. The reality? Well...you're just going to have to wait and see.
wait, 40 pages of planning? Daaaamn
