The US is an interesting place.
You'd be lying to yourself and everyone else if you tried to say that the US is... united. Made up of fifty states, all different from one another. They might as well just be micro-nations just flying under one flag. Sure. The neighbors will be similar, but they'll be radically different as well.
You can tell the difference between New York City and San Francisco. Detroit and Louisville.
You have conservatives on one side, liberals on the other side. Moderates in the middle. All of them constantly bickering over things. No gay marriage! Marriage equality for all! Destroy the conservatives!
Ban guns! Don't ban guns! Give us nukes!
But, interestingly enough. There are two dates in the year that will bring even these bickering parties together.
The first is the Fourth of July. The, considerably, lighter event. The day America officially announced its Independence. Flipping King George off as Imperial Russia, France and Spain backed the land-borne rebels up.
The second, a considerably darker date, is 9/11/01. The day where militant Muslim terrorists hijacked 4 planes. Sucessfullly crashing two into the World Trade Centers, and one into the Pentagon.
The fourth plane, United Airlines Flight 93 was initially taken by the terrorists. But brave Americans fought back. Giving their lives to save possibly hundreds or even thousands of other lives. 40 Humans died on that flight taking it back. It crashed near Shanksville, PA. May your souls rest in eternal peace
"Flight 93, you fought back. Now it's our turn."
At 8:46 AM, 9/11/01, five hijackers began the attack. Crashing American Airlines Flight 11 into the WTC North Tower.
At 9:03 AM, 9/11/01, five more hijackers crashed United Airlines Flight 175 into the WTC South Tower.
At 9:37 AM, 9/11/01, five more hijackers flew American Airlines Flight 77 into the Pentagon.
At 10:03 AM, 9/11/01, the passengers of United Airlines Flight 93 made their last stand in an attempt to regain control of the flight after learning of the attacks on the Trade Centers and the Pentagon. In an act of even more cowardice, the hijackers rolled the plane when they realized the passengers were about to retake the flight. Unfortunately, the flight crashed in a field near Shanksville, PA. All 40 Humans died.
In total, this was the deadliest day in history for first responders and law enforcement. With 343 and 72 killed respectively.
These attacks claimed the lives of 2977 Humans.
This post may be late, but if you haven't already, please. Have a moment of silence for those who have fallen...
