Fare thee well for a while! · 12:53am Sep 12th, 2015
First, I just want to say thank you to everyone who has read my work. The likes, the faves, the followers... You guys are a big part of the reason that I keep writing, as you show me that what I do is appreciated. While I have no intentions, nor any expectations to get as popular as some of the well known writers on this site, I do hope that your numbers grow, and I can bring happiness, or at least a little amusement, into more peoples days through my work.
That being said, I have to say goodbye for sometime, and I know if I where in your guys's place, I would be asking questions. "What happened? Where is he going? Why is he leaving us on such a cliffhanger?" Stuff like that. Welp, the answer is quite simple! In two days time, I will be getting on a plane and leaving for San Diego to begin my thirteen weeks of Basic Training. The time has finally come for me to begin my three month trials to become a United States Marine. Naturally, I will not have the time, nor the equipment to continue writing, and I don't think brainstorming the next chapter will be on my to-do list, so basically, all progress on Settling In has been put on hold till I get out.
As for the way I ended the last chapter, well... I wanted to give you guys SOMETHING before I left, and that was where the story was going in the first place, so I really had no other option, aside from a 10,000 word chapter, which I have NO intentions of ever doing. I'm a fan of small, compartmentalized chapters, so readers can take a break when they need to without losing their spot. Also, it doesn't hurt that I gave you people incentive to check back in four months or so to see what happens next!
Now, the three month schedule is also relying on nothing happening that would extend my stay at camp, such as injuries or emergencies. It may even end up being longer if things don't go to plan. So if seven months go by and I still haven't done anything, don't freak out and stop following the story. I PROMISE I have no plans to stop writing anytime soon.
Settling In will be marked as being on hiatus for the duration of my training. And with that, I bid you all a fond farewell. Stay awesome guys!
