    My top 10 fan fics

So, I have nothing better to do and I've read a bunch of MLPFiM fan fiction in the past few months so I might as well share some hidden/obvious gems with you guys. Maybe you know about them all already, maybe you don't, these are just some of the fan fictions (that I remember) I enjoyed the most, read on at your leisure.

10.My Little Dashie
Might as well get this one out of the way first since it's the one that EVERYBODY knows about already. It's good when you're first getting into the show or the fandom... At least that's what I would say if getting into the show or the fandom were the same experience anymore. The show and the fandom have changed a lot, as such, this story is more of a time capsule that encapsulated what the show and the fandom used to be without having to watch older episodes or browse old forums to get the jist of it. Nowadays it's good nostalgia for a peek into what this was all like 4 years ago but it doesn't really make you feel for it now that the past cultural context is missing in the present.

09.Five Score Divided by Four
Talk about the exact opposite of My Little Dashie rating wise. I read the [adult version] and had to skip a paragraph or two TWICE because the sex scenes were a bit much to stomach even for my tastes (and that's saying a lot) Yeah, the sex got pretty descriptive but that's not why it made it on to my list. It's on my list because it's the most realistic "pony shows up on earth and here's what happens" scenario I've read thus far, and that's not even the main focus of the story! It's rather long and it takes a while to really get going but once the action picks up in the latter half of the fic you won't be able to stop reading. It's good, read it, and, if you don't want to get turned on by thinking of pastel colored miniature equines the author made a pg-13 version just for you!

08.Hard Reset/A Stitch in Time/You Can Fight Fate
These stories cannot be separated, they are part of the same whole and as such, I won't regard them separately. Like The Lord of the Rings (yeah, I went there) you need to read all three to reach a satisfying conclusion even though all three stories have a very clear beginning, middle, and end. You know, the author of this Time Loop trilogy said that the moral of these stories is about getting second chances, but quite frankly, I don't see it. For all of the character's gallivanting back and forth through time they really only have the lives they've got to set things right. The message I got from the story was: You only get one chance, make it count. That's what I got from it anyways, read it and see for yourself what you'll get from it. It's well worth your time and investment. WELL WORTH IT.

07.Stardust
This story made me cry. ..... That's it there's no more. ..... Okay, there's more but that really is the main reason it's on this list, most of this story is boring and tedious. Using most of it's focus to depict and explain the various weaponry the humans use in this pony arrives on earth story. I don't need ten paragraphs to describe how a generator works, just say "it's a generator, it stores magical energy" and that would be enough! I almost stopped reading it because the explanations about how things worked got so droll and tedious but I'm glad I didn't (even though the application of said things explained were never utilized to the extent necessary to warrant such detailed explanations) because the characters were what made it all worth it in the end. Twilight was written a little on the naive and wimpy side (at least mentally) this time around but the human characters and their interactions with her more than made up for that. I'd read it if you want a good "Pony misplaced on earth" story. Just skip some of the parts where it goes into explaining how the machinery they use works. It doesn't come into play later, and what does is pretty self explanatory ("it's a gun, it shoots stuff" that type of thing) so don't bother. With, the tedious explanations that is. DO bother with the story.

06.Promises/Keeping Your Promises
Like the Time loop trilogy these two stories go together like bread & butter so I'm going to regard them as the same story here.
I don't even know what to say about this story. I feel like I relate to Scootaloo a lot in it that's for sure. I think we often feel like a small orange colored improperly proportioned baby horse standing on top of a floating cloud with a spinal condition from time to time. Seriously though, my bad humor aside, this is a good story, not great, or grand or epic, it's not supposed to be. It's just good. Small, but good. If in your life, you feel like everything is weighing you down at the time this is a story you can take.

05.Past Sins
Like My Little Dashie everyone's heard of this story. I even have a physical hardcover copy from back when they were printing them it's so good. Personally though, I think it falls apart at the end. As a whole, it's not overrated by any means, don't get me wrong it's an incredible story! It just, sort of lost cohesion during the last few chapters trying to cobble together a happy ending to satisfy all the fans who didn't want to see... bad stuff happen to the main characters. Even though, from the way it was written, from the very beginning it would've made more sense for it to end in tragedy. Oh well, the development of the characters in it is still good and that's the selling point for me anyways. Kind of like Five Score Divided by Four the action only really gets going after the half way point but unlike Five Score there's more than just buildup during the first half. There're mini stories to pique your interest and convincing character interactions throughout. It's not as much an adventure as it is a slice of life fort he first half and an action/drama for the second, very little adventuring happens in this really. If you want adventure though it doesn't get much better than the next fic on the list.

04.It's Dangerous Business Going Out Your Door
This story got me out my front door, but that's another story entirely. THIS story is about Applejack, Rarity, and Rainbow Dash going on an epic quest to save Twilight from her own mistake. It takes a lot of inspiration from Lord of the Rings, right down to the Elvin forest (this time hosted by deer) and the ponies learn some cool new tricks along the way each pertaining to their race and individual traits and characteristics. It's one of the best adventure fics out there and, on a side note, if you're wanting to make a change in your life, there's nothing better to spur you into action than reading this fic for the first time.

03.White Box
What can I say about this story other than read it? Anything I could say only misrepresents what it's about. So go read it.

02.Then Tomorrow Came
It's a ship fic. Now hold on! Don't skip to the next one just yet. It's number 2 for a reason you know and it's not just because my two favorite ponies are shipped together. No, seriously. It's really not. I don't even think they have good chemistry. I'm more of an AJ/RD fan myself but I'm getting beside the point! This fic is just written well, and I mean VERY well. It should probably be in my number one spot but well, you know. Every top 10 fic list you've read by now has a fic in the #1 spot that shouldn't be there but is for the listers personal reasons, it's the same with my list. To sum up this story without giving too much away (because with this one it really is better to go in blind) it's, "From the authors perspective: What would happen if in the My Little Pony universe the only variable that were changed is that Twilight Sparkle loves Rainbow Dash? And... Go." The story as you're reading it, feels like it writes itself from there from beginning to end. It's for lack of a better word, flawless. Not in grammar or spelling but in the way it tells a story. There's nothing about it I would change it's just... Read it. Just fricking read it.

01.Pinkie Pie is an Eldritch Abomination
Listen to this song while reading the last half of this fic. If you're still sane afterwards, you clearly didn't do what I said.
This is an existential horror of the best kind. It takes the question I've always wondered since I heard my first story: "What would a character do if they knew they were a character in a story?" and brought it to the next level "What if we are all just characters in a story as well?" "What would we think?" "Would it matter?" All these questions and more were brought up by just reading this short fic. And it's not like the story itself ever took it that far. It was just written in such a way that it posed the question without even asking it directly. And I love it for that. This gets number one because it poses to me the most important question of all, is any of this real?

P.S. Some guy just spilled my water ALL OF IT and Pizza and acted so callous about it afterwards and I'm going to lose my freaking mind. Just more proof of the separation of responsibility and accountability and how we aren't responsible for our own actions, only accountable for them, had I known sitting here would result in getting assaulted by a guy, I would not have. If the action of sitting down on a chair makes you responsible for losing your water and maybe pizza to a dirty ground while another guy flips a cushion where I was sitting causing the contents to flip over then I'd like you to look up the definition of responsibility in the dictionary because you're wrong. People will never be responsible for the results of their actions because they can't know what the results will be.

Fuck the world.
