My recent Flashlight dating horror fic is not popular.
This is not a surprise, given both the Flashlight hate on Fimfiction and the portrayal of Twilight as a naive, lovesick puppy. But does that really account for the lion's share of its criticism?
No, wait: I actually did edit.
There are a number of things that make Flash in the Pan painful to read, but I'm not yet certain how much of it is "I intended this badness" and how much of it is "wait no this was done totally wrong".
So, Imma let fate decide what happens to the story. When this month's Writeoff is finally concluded (on Thursday), I'll be able to see how highly my story actually scored, and how poorly those scores might have agreed (how "controversial" it was).
If the combined %ile scores of ranking and controversy reach at least 135%, I'll keep it. If not, I'll scrap it back to the idea pile. That's a high number to hit when a story doesn't make the cutoff, but I suspect my story did middling on score and high on controversy. I give it even money odds based on the reviews I've digested.
Either way, we'll see...
Please, keep it! It has the right to live! It is a nice piece by all means!
I think it is a good story, but I really doubt it will ever be very popular here on fimfiction in the short term. On the other hand, it could be an endurance runner, taking it's sweet time to gather appreciation.
Long story short, if you ask me, keep it
I'm one of those strange people who enjoy these kind of things, though. A bit of mental anguish is quite the catharsis; you only get any joy from it upon reflecting on the situation.
Also, I found the ending hilarious :B
The fic is good in my books.
Heh... you're brave. You really like writing about those controversial topics, eh? That takes guts. Although, in this story's case, I don't think some people are seeing the same controversy as me and others are...
