Recapped

It is not the darkness in the story that makes it beautiful. It is the light that rises after it reaches the dregs of despair. Hope. The realization that. while not ideal, things ended well

A Start of Something New (well, sort of) · 8:22am Sep 5th, 2015

November 2014.

Well technically October. That was when i first started planning out my story. Then November came and the NaNoWriMo that came with it. 50 thousand+ words later we have the beginning of something (yes the beginning. I would say go big or go home but honestly I just never seem to be able to stick to small goals. Always go straight for the big ones).

This blog post is a reminder to myself and a testament to anyone that sees this of what I have decided to. I have been working on my story here and there fine tuning the characters and the plot direction but have done little writing (because life is crazy. Yay X_X ). I have taken stock of what I know of myself and came to a realization. 1. Writing in a vacuum with no feedback gives me more anxiety than I would prefer in my life. 2. I like hearing what others think about my work (well, at least constructive criticism. The "your stuff is shit because it is" kind is not so fun). 3. Accountability helps me stay motivated. By accountability I mean having at least a few people who are interested in reading my work and seeing how it ends. If there is someone who is genuinely curious, I will want to get that story out there. Unfortunately, at least in this case, one of my greatest motivators regarding stories is curiosity and when you already have a rather good idea of how the story shall go it is not nearly so pressing to finish it.

So I am laying out my plan right here as a record of this resolution (and as a "no taksies backsies" sort of thing for myself. And I promise to try and never use that terminology again because that was horrible).

In the next two weeks I will read over and edit the first 3 chapters of my story and publish them on FimFiction. I will then post on whatever is the appropriate forum for asking for feedback. Simultaneously I will ask for those interested in helping edit the story to please contact me (because editors help. A lot). Finally, I will use what feedback I get (crosses fingers in a "here is hoping" manner) to continue both with the publishing of additional chapters and the writing of new ones.

So if you are reading this, know that on the 19th of September (possibly earlier) I will begin a series of posts that include the first three chapters of Fallout Equestria: Of Quills and Blades.
