I know it's, like, two months away BUT-- · 10:53pm Aug 30th, 2015

Halloween is coming up, guys. Tumblr is just barely holding back as is; the moment it turns to September 1st, chaos will ensue with spooky gifs and scary skeletons that are raving in graveyards. It will only grow worse as September turns to October, often referred to "Halloween Month".

That is why I am preparing you all for the coming holiday.

I am a Halloween veteran; I have trick-or-treated every year up to this year without fail, I have put together costumes within a matter of hours for costume parties, and I can go from a cute pixie to a demon from hell within half an hour.

However, last year, there was one thing I did not prepare myself for: story writing. Yes, that's right, Harmony Charmer, the girl who wrote and published stories within days of each other back in the good ol' days, did not prepare for story writing. I had story ideas lined up, but I did not put forth that much effort to get all the ones I wanted to done. I only wrote three stories when I had about 20 different ideas.

I can hear you ask me: "But, Harmony, if you had plans for these stories, then why didn't you write them?"

My answer is this: I didn't start early enough. My first story was written and published at the end of September, giving me about a month to prep my others stories. However, school took over my plans and I was only able to write three stories for the holiday. Hell, I didn't even finish my SombraPie story until the day after Valentine's Day, and I felt terrible because of it.

I wish to save myself and others from this happening.

First of all, I know it's hard to come up with story ideas and how hard it can be to do it in a time period. However, I'm going to save you some time in trying to come up with ideas and give you some I've acquired over time. They are very general and they can be used by anyone.

Now, a good way to narrow down what ideas work best for you is to apply whatever characters you want to each situation and then to go through them to find out which one you'd be most interested in writing. Then, once you narrow down a couple of good ideas, you could go ahead and write out a paragraph of what you want to happen in the story. A good example is like this:

AJ and Thunderlane want to go out, but they get stuck having to watch their younger siblings while trick-or-treating before they can go to Pinkie's party. They spend most of the night going through haunted houses and getting candy, all while time passes and they eventually don't get to go to the party. They later find out that Pinkie's party was crashed by Crystal Prep students and that there was a huge fight, so they're happy they stayed with their siblings instead.

You can go into more detail about what happens and specify as much as you want, but this is a good way to get a general idea of what you want to do in the story. It's quick and it's easy.

Just be sure that you want to write these stories and want to partake in the holiday, as it can get very intense! A good way to get into the spirit is to listen to songs that give you spooky feels or just something written for the holiday!

And remember, kids: Submit your stories when YOU'RE happy with them. It's OK if you don't get them in before or on Halloween. Just be proud of what you wrote and be happy that people will read it.

Oh, and the reason I bring this up is because I was working on a sequel to a certain Nightmare Night fic I wrote last year... Have fun guessing which one!
