Friendship Games Sneak Peek: Thoughts and Ideas · 12:39pm Aug 30th, 2015
This isn't really an analysis or anything, more like my thoughts on what we've seen so far.
For those who haven't seen the promo and would like to:
Though I'm fairly certain that this is technically an actual part from the movie, it was still interesting nonetheless.
It already seems like the movie will be addressing several key issues we've had with the past movies. Likely, we'll be seeing human Twilight investigating the portal statue throughout the actual games. I'm wondering if what we'll see is an explanation as to how no one falls into the portal on accident.
We also get a few ideas as to what Sunset will be doing during the Games, as I doubt she'll actually be partaking in them. She'll be investigating how magic keeps popping up in this world, especially since any remnant of it should have been gone by the first movie. This will be answering the question that people have been asking since Rainbow Rocks. This will probably also have human Twilight conflicting with Sunset, as they both try to understand why and where this magic is coming from. If we look at the trailers for Friendship Games, then we can surmise that somehow, Equestria itself is going to get involved. Though, hopefully Twilight (pony) doesn't need to show up.
This seems to also connect back to the Rainbooms "ponying up," though we have yet to see an explanation as to why this happens. A comment left by Applejack at the end of the promo may or may not be addressed during the film, but I certainly hope it does. Though now, instead of music helping them transform, it seems that there are other factors involved.
Luna and Celestia might get more impact-leaving roles, though that itself is a longshot.
Song wise, I'm not having much hope. I didn't particularly like Rainbow's song, but that's too subjective for me to argue about. That, and, the animation behind it seemed... odd (especially the ending segments).
And, we got something different about Flash Sentry as well. The part at about 5:25 through 5:27 made me laugh a little. Don't hold too much hope, though; it's likely he won't be seeing much development either. Goddamn it Brad...
(And I have yet to see the latest Friendship Games short, which many are saying has FS in it... so I have no idea so far as to what he's going to be like)
Regardless, this promo has certainly piqued my interest. I can't guarantee if it will be good, but I certainly am looking forward to it.
Or maybe it will sucks major balls, like all the others movies... .
Even if they will actually give some sort of explanation I doubt is going to be that good. Like in RR we got some hint like "I guess that when we used the elements that time now we can always use it". Well, sure, that explains everything, just like in the first EQG Sunset talk about what happens if you take an element into another dimension but it's never addressed how would have anyone found out about it nor WHY it happens.
You are putting way to much credit in EQG stuff. The first purpose is to sell toys, not telling a coherent story, it's already easy to understand it because in this movie they have dropped the musical band thing without anyone mentioning it.

By all accounts, everything made by any toy company, regardless of how good it is, will be made to sell toys. HASBROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Again, I'm not exactly holding out too much hope here. It looks interesting, yes, but I can't say if it will be good. Might as well be optimistic, since I spent five years being a pessimistic asshat.
3357436 Yes, but they are not even trying here.
Being optimistic is great, but don't leave it blind you from the negatives part of the movie.
To me Flat Sentry has lost his chance to shine as a character when in EQG 1 they shoehorned him as Twilight boyfriend. I don't know if in EQG 3 he will be improved (And no, for much his line made me sort of smirk in amusement that is not a sign of him being turned into a full 3dimensional character), nothing would change that.
3357443 Yep. Flash Sentry is going to be bad... or worse.
I sort of rolled my eyes at the way he made that comment. Kind of reminds me of those idiots in school who think they're cooler than everyone when they aren't. And then you sort of snort in mild amusement and disappointment whenever they make a snarky comment.
