One week ago, I said it would never happen.

That I would never achieve a Rainbow S ranking on every level of Freedom Planet 2.

    And now...

Tell Your Tale: Buried in a Good Book

This week, Misty forces her friends to play a D&D campaign with a DM who sounds like she's bored out of her mind.

    Pretty decent this week.

    One of those moments...

...where I really wish it wasn't 3 AM.

Have to save the last one for tomorrow after work, then it's time to 100% Freedom Planet 2, something I really didn't think I'd pull off.

That was a way to kill an evening.

It also gave me a very, very good idea of what stages I will never, ever get a Rainbow S in.

    I completely underestimated today's eclipse.

I have witnessed two partial eclipses in my lifetime, so I wasn't quite sure how a "total eclipse" would be noticeably better.

Holy shit, how wrong I was.

Luckily, I reside well within the path of totality, so I didn't have to travel at all.

    And just... Wow.

Xbox Does What Nintendon't · 4:29pm Aug 24th, 2015

Alright, this is fucking hilarious.

With Rare Replay, the Xbox One has more N64 re-releases than the Wii U Virtual Console.

Nintendo could be making so much money on their nostalgia, and they are ignoring it. I STILL play oldies on the Wii Virtual Console.

And Starfox Zero has a release date of November 20th.

Too bad it looks like fucking shit. I'm taking it off the very, very short list of reasons to get a Wii U.

I don't expect much, Nintendo. You haven't been contending visually since the GameCube. But for fuck's sake, when I put screenshots of StarFox 64 and Starfox Zero, what I see is far, far less of a difference than I expect in 18 years. I know the saying among fanboys is "graphics don't matter" but they do matter to a point. And it's not all because of the high-tier gaming PC I've had for three months, because the PS4 and Xbox One still look decent.

I hope you come out swinging with whatever the NX is, because in my entertainment center, you are becoming more and more irrelevant.

I was basically Nintendo-only for a long time until I finally got an XBox 360 in 2012. I agree with you— Nintendo has really gone downhill. Honestly, the only reason I got a WiiU was because I'm a huge fan of Zelda and Mario, and I know for a fact they won't be showing up on any other platforms anytime soon. I've been on my XBOne SO much more often as of late, and yeah, I'm definitely looking forward to Rare Replay.

I haven't even heard of this NX, though— what is it? :rainbowhuh:

Wow, that really puts things into perspective.

I'm honestly starting to wonder if this is a Japanese culture thing. The big-wigs at Nintendo see no value in digitally 'reusing' the old stuff, and that trickle down through the ranks. And that was fine, as long as the new stuff actually sold like iced lemonade in Death valley...

Honestly, Nintendo either need to wake up and smell the ashes of the Wii cash-cow, or Sega and Atari won't be the only ex-titans in the field soon enough. :pinkiesad2:

Well, at least Microsoft is actually finally capitalizing on its partnership with Rare. It took them long enough to realize the gold mine they were sitting on.

I recently got Rare Replay from a buddy as a belated birthday gift, and I am having a blast! The majority of my childhood is at my finger tips once more (I am 31 now) and I am happy Microsoft finally got wise about doing this.

Though to be honest, I hope they invest in Rare some more in the future... in fact, I hope they might seriously look at bringing back to life the canceled game "Sundown" as the concept art for that looks creepy as all f*ck!

Lol. Sega also did what Nintendon't. I remember back when I could download games from the Sega Network through this little box that you hooked up to your 64 bit Sega. Then this amazing system called the Dreamcast came out...kinda wished they didn't scrap the Saturn though.

3343741 The Saturn was their own fault. They released it with like... Absolutely no hype. At all.

Oh man. I remember when that happened. My older brother, who was an adult at the time, showed up at out house and asked me to come out to his car. He opened up the back and sitting there was his new Sega Saturn. I was floored. It took me totally by surprised. My mom came out, and I instantly started pestering her to get me one.

Obviously I had no idea that it wasn't the best console to get excited about, but it had its moments.

The whole rise and fall of Sega in the 90's is such a fascinating story though.

Yeeeeeah, I could go on about retrogames for hours.

Um... hate to break it to you, but I'm pretty sure they had a pretty logical reason why they were slacking.

Their president, Satoru Iwata, was fighting cancer. It was a miracle for him to even show up at any events, and put on as much of a confident smile as he did! And what's more, he was the reason why Nintendo was improving in many different levels beforehand... but unfortunately (as I'm just going to assume that you either haven't noticed or might've forgotten about) their lack of content this year could be summed up into two words... >HE DIED<.

Without a president to run the company, (a good one at that) what choices did Nintendo have? Find a new president? That would cut the time to develop the games on the table. Continue with the games? A majority of the positive morale that the company had was because of Iwata, so obviously things would be a lot more grim of an environment to work in... and as human nature goes, you wouldn't want to sleep in an uncomfortable spot, would you? Even if it were the only option you had left, there's always an alternative... find a new bed! Same goes for working at Nintendo. The workers could work through the discomfort, but then there's also the option to find a new job to work at.

And please don't get me wrong, I'm not a fanboy to a specific system! They all have their own unique qualities that make them interesting in their own way... y'know, Xbox with their epic games, graphics, and content, Sony for their LittleBigPlanet series, Nintendo for Zelda, Mario, Pokemon, etc... and so on. I'm just saying that maybe there's more to why they weren't doing so well than you may have been informed. :ajsmug:
