Restaurant-Workers hate Gender-Specific Toys too. · 9:14pm Aug 22nd, 2015

I worked in a restaurant which had toys which come with kid-meals. The executives figure that sex-based toys are a good idea. I, along with most of my coworkers, both male and female, disagree on principle. All workers disagree in practice:

We are supposed to be fast. We are suppose to take the order in less than 1-minute, and collect money and hand out food in less than 1 minute. Even if parents have no problem with sexist toys, asking whether the meal is for a girl or boy takes time. Making certain that the right toy is in the right bag takes time.

This turns into a real Mare-In-The-Moon NightMareMoon when the parent disagrees with this sexist policy. Nothing like being chewed out, by a parent, with whom I agree 100%, over the sexists toys, and having to call in the manager, and tying up the drive-through, in the middle of the lunch-rush for 5-to-10 minutes, costing us a gross of 50.00 to 100.00 U$D.

This post inspired by Pineta, Equestria Daily and Target.

Thanks for that perspective. From the point of view of a feminist customer it seems a simple issue: why not say "toy A or toy B?" instead of "boy or girl?" or making assumptions. But if you're trying to meet a quota for orders per hour, I can see it's more difficult.

It is also an example of out-of-touch executives:

The executives love money above all else. If they could find a way to eliminate a job and pocket the payroll, they would in an heartbeat. They put up this sexists policy without thinking about the consequences:

The slowdown from asking and not just shoving any toy, but the right toy in the bag costs about 100.00 U$D in lost sales from the slow-down daily (we cannot serve as many customers an hour than if we eliminated these unnecessary steps). Irate customers tying up drive-through or counter costs another 100.00 U$D/daily in lost sales. Annually, the policy costs a gross of the annual pay of 8 teenagers, or 4 adults or 2 managers.

If the out-of-touch executives would be aware of the consequences of their actions, they would switch to unisex-toys and pocket the extra money the restaurants would earn in an heartbeat.

switch to unisex-toys

In my opinion, all toys are unisex.
