I write stories so that I won't be kept awake at night with a brain full of ponies.

Sorry I vanished on you all...

I kind of left you all and basically stopped updating without any warning. Really, that was a bit mean of me. The truth is, however, that I recently have had little to no interest in pony stuff. Yes, I watch the episodes and maybe read a fic or two, but I just haven't been interested in ponies. Other things have caught my attention.

I guess what I'm saying is that I'm on pony hiatus.

    My Thoughts

Almost exactly a year ago, I sat down and wrote up a checklist of very general plot points that I wanted to cover for Split Second: An Eternity Divided. I wrote down fifteen major points that I wanted to cover, not including whatever I chose to end the story with. I had no idea how long it would last me, but I figured that would be good. I couldn’t really think of anything else to

Instead of studying for my finals like a good boy...

... I was working on the next chapter. You'd better love this chapter, 'cause if I fail, I'm blaming y'all.

Anyway, my pre-reader, Dream Seeker, has the next chapter to look over. Expect it soon.

No release date yet, but I present to you a simple question instead:

Who is Stygian Blue?

Brother of Soylent Green?

I'm almost tempted to make that a real thing. Good one.

Stygian? That in and of itself has connotations similar to death... What with it basically being similar to or of the Styx River, and Blue could be seen as water, so I wanna say someone with close ties to Death in the story.

Brother of Soylent Green?

Heh.

I like the way you think.

Alternatively Stygian Blue could be the brother to the Luminous Red and Hyperbolic Orange sisters...
:twistnerd: :scootangel:

Death or someone like Death. As Stygian means of or relating to the Styx river which in ancient Greek is the way to the underworld/ the pits.

He's Stygian Blue, la da dee, la dee da... :yay:

The necromantic abomination formed when Death washed his name in the river Styx while using Stallion Blue mane shampoo... He now torments bad ponies that kill over their hair. A small subset of the damndd to be sure... But he is dedicated.

The Blue companion to Death?

Well, given we've already figured out who Death really is...

It's Cobalt, of course... further down the line and less temporally anchored.

After all of the retcons in the ask blog and story, i fear i am lost.

XD LOL Good one.

As I recall, there is a glue factory in Ponyville. I wouldn't be surprised if they sell other things like dog food AND fertilizer... I'll see if I can cue up a link for you.

3335269 Your words have destabilized the balance of the universe, and the excess energy has been transported back in time to August 12th 2015, and accumulated in a warehouse in Tianjin China. You monster. db.tt/I2i4fD5K

I concur. As pony names are literal as often as abstract, it could be a direct reference to the ferry mare/stallion.

Don't know if it matters, but stygian blue is an impossible color.

Impossible colors or forbidden colors are supposed colors that cannot be perceived in normal seeing of light that is a combination of various intensities of the various frequencies of visible light, but are reported to be seen in special circumstances./.../

Stygian colors: these are simultaneously dark and impossibly saturated. For example, to see "stygian blue": staring at bright yellow causes a dark blue afterimage, then on looking at black, the blue is seen as blue against the black, but due to lack of the usual brightness contrast it seems to be as dark as the black. The eye retina contains some neurons that fire only in the dark.

Well, as already said, Stygian is related to the Hades and its river Styx, probably symbolizing death and torment. Blue is a color and famous for Picasso's Blue Period, so Stygian Blue is clearly Pablo Picasso after a strange accident transported him to Equestria and turned him into a demented dark mage, arranging still-living ponies into his abstract works of art (to his victim's immense horror and pain).

Don't know why nobody else was able to see that, it's very obvious.

:trollestia:

No, seriously. I think Mossflower's on the right path with his excerpt about impossible colors. It might have something to do with a changeling, given that we're bound to hear about them sometime in the near future and that they are both, black and blue.

I wonder if that's why I can see the colors of my comics on the monochrome edition in low light. When I colored the pages, the stygian colors were burned permanently into my mind. So that now, I can just look at the tone and shadow on the pages and see the colors just fine. Then again, I also spent two semesters of college looking at black and white movies, but that wouldn't explain the perception of color on paper that is literally only shades of gray.
