    Update (Without excuses this time!)

Guess what? I'm done writing the next chapter of Manifesto.

I just need to give my prereaders a day or two to look over it, and then it'll go up.

Until then, here's Despacito being played on a guzheng.

    Hey, everyone.

I've somehow gotten out of the habit of posting updates. Oops.

Anyway, you've no doubt noticed that I don't post as often as I once did in the past. This is largely because improvements in my life situation mean I have the wherewithal to engage in hobbies other than writing fanfiction.

    Update.

Goodness, it's been a while, hasn't it? You're probably wondering why my pace has slowed down on Manifesto. Well, there are several reasons, but the most relevant one is that I find myself rewriting large swaths of this chapter as I zero in on the best plan for Sunset to take. I'm basically going back and forth between two ideas that can't really be combined into a single one, and for

    New Story Incoming

In case you missed my last blog post, I'm taking a break from the adventures of Celestia and Daring Do to write the next Petriculture story. At this point it looks like it'll be fairly short -- about two chapters long -- and I recently finished up the first chapter, which will be posted once my prereaders give it a final once-over.

You can quantify practically anything. · 3:55pm Aug 19th, 2015

Even the degree to which senpai has noticed you.

By the way, I'm not really trying to make some sort of statement about whether or not this is a good idea, as it's not really applicable to me (as of this posting there's only about 60 or FIMFiction users who could have an effect my result). I just find the idea itself interesting, that's all.

Ahh, thanks for turning me on to this!

That was interesting. Plus it was a neat reminder of some people who I had forgotten were following me.

Yep. As a modeller, I'd make all sorts of adjustments to it--like, I'd first adjust follower count to an estimated number of currently-active followers, using the average fimfiction user half-life (which I estimated here for writers as 1.76 years). I've been on the site > 3 years, so maybe half of my 1100+ followers are still on the site, and my popular stories have gained me a disproportionate number of followers due to being out so long. (I have a reputation as a literary writer, yet I've gotten more than half my followers from "The Saga of Ravenblood etc. Nightblade" or whatever and "Sisters". So the number of active followers I have for the kinds of stories I usually write is quite small; probably 200 or 300!) But then I'd have to write a script and put it on a web server or no one else could compute it. :unsuresweetie:

I think I'm more interested in average followers per follower: (followers of followers) / followers

I'd also like some metric of insularity, say (followers of followers) / (unique followers of followers). I have a lot of followers of followers, but the people who follow me tend to also follow GhostOfHeraclitus, horizon, Skywriter, Cold in Gardez, bookplayer, etc., and vice-versa. I might have (wild guess) 150,000 followers of followers, but only 6,000 if you remove duplicates. I think I'm in one fimfiction ghetto, largely unaware of the vast bulk of writers and stories except from seeing them in the featured box.

3331971 - You're definitely right that the idea needs a little tweaking. That's partly why I said it's not applicable to me; I've only got four followers who have more followers than I do, and yet my score is still 11,257.
