Actually, I'm Dead - Editorial: Party goers · 8:06am Aug 14th, 2015

Okay, first of all, for those who may want my head for not updating in over a week, despite the fact that university is not in the way anymore... you know what, I'm not even sure on how to finish that statement, so I'm going to use the standard apology form:

Yeah, apparently this is a thing.

Well, with that out of the way, let's make up for it with my traditional way, which is of course, trading an update for an editorial on the last chapter. And oh boy, last chapter has a lot of thing to write an editorial about.

Exactly who the *yay* were in that party?

Believe it or not, there was an actual debate on the matter on how many ponies should be present and who. To be honest, the very first draft (me before consulting with nightwalker) included all of Ponyville there and Trixie never leaving her cloak. The interactions were all impersonal and it ended with her actually getting confident enough to pull the hood back and show her face to everyone... making them all flee the place out of horror. Of course, with the previous parts already having similar scenes, we both decided to change it all.

I think it was 'walker who first had the idea of only including ponies who were present at Trixie's first show, since he even checked the episode to be sure of it. Of course, there was the initial idea of including Snips and Snails, but in all honestly, I felt unable to write them down, so we moved on with the background ponies. There was when I noticed something interesting; Carrot Top, Ditzy Doo, Raindrops and Lyra were in the crowd. For those who didn't catch up with the detail, they are all Elements of Harmony in the (wonderful) alternate universe know as the LunaVerse. This drove to the first draft of a guest list we had, by including all the Lunar!Six.

Of course, the Mane Six were already there by default, since this was as much their chapter as it was Trixie's. Then, because of Applejack's not-very-polite behavior, we added Big Mac to watch over her. Then, because of an aborted arc involving childhood friends, Bulky Biceps. And yeah, I completely missed the opportunity of him shouting "Ultra Combo" after Trixie's imaginary beatdown over Rainbow Dash. Or even saying "Toasty" after the actual one.

Then, the invitations by proxy started. The first one was Bon Bon because of Lyra. Under that same line of thought, Amethyst Star and The Doctor were along Ditzy. Then, 'walker proposed Blossomforth, Cludchaser and Flitter. The first one served as a minor nod to the (wonderful too) Manehattanverse, so I said yes immediately, while on the other hand, I've been wanting to have something to do with the twins (sadly, another aborted arc), so no objections there.

So, for those who want their answer, the final line-up for Pinkie's party was:

Twilight, Spike, Pinkie, AJ, RD, Rarity, FS, Big Mac, Bulky Biceps, Ditzy, Raindrops, Lyra, Bon Bon, Carrot Top, Cheerilee, Amethyst, The Doctor, Blossomforth, Flitter and Cloudchaser.

Well, that's it for now. I mean, I know there's a lot more to discuss about this chapter, but honestly, it's like 5 a.m. in my end and I'm actually tired. See you guys later.

How did you know?!

You know, for the sake of thematic consistency, you should really be calling these "post mortems" instead of editorials. :derpytongue2:

I don't know. I see a name for these would become a misleading for newer readers.

Sure, but it would also be really, really funny. :derpytongue2:

I'm sure the pretentious "wannabe literature critic" demographic will appreciate it, too. Quidquid latine dictum, altum videtur.
