AstralFlame

Life is nothing more than a million stories blending together, the chaos which comes from such an event is what makes life more interesting, it is as discord said "What fun is there in making sense?"

So there are times when everyone is waiting for me to post a new chapter to boy or beast, and I can imagine that a lot of you get really impatient, and you're probably thinking, "When the hell is the author going to get the hell up and post that damn chapter?" I know because I think the same thing.

Hey guys, I'm sure a lot of you have been wondering why it's taken so long for the next chapter to come out. well It's because I've had to revise the chapter Several times. It's only recently that I've come to a, rather disturbing thought. Let me take you back about 2 years ago. I wrote on a site called Fanfction. I'm sure you all know about this site and if you don't, don't bother, it's kind of

Theory time: Cutiemarks · 2:20am Aug 12th, 2015

So this is a new idea I had, to gain interest in both my account and my stories. Whenever I have an idea about something that might reveal more of the world of Equestria, I'm going to post it here, and go into great detail about it and why I think the way I do about the topic. I will give examples, and I will even let people challenge my opinion, and come up with an alternative theory about my topic, all I ask that that your respectful when you opposing my opinion.
Now as the tittle of this blog indicate, this is about cutiemarks. So how does a pony get a cutiemarks? The show tells us that a pony gains their cutiemarks when the discover their special talent, the thing that they are best at, but what makes the cutiemarks take the shape that they do take? As any intellectual will tell you, simply saying, "because magic", is not a good answer, it is lazy and it shows that a person doesn't care enough to look into that.
This first came to mind, when I saw the episode, "Rarity, takes Manehatten", it occurred to me, that both Rarity and Suri Pollamare, had the same special Talent, they both were aspiring fashionistas, who had a talent for creating astounding clothing, yet why is it that Rarity's cutie mark is of three Diamonds, and Suri's is three different colored, and different sized buttons. My theory for this is that a cutiemarks is shaped based on the things that a pony see's, or a life changing event, that's embodied in an object.
Allow me to explain my reasoning on this, in the episode where the Cutiemark Crusaders, ask the Mane six how they got their cutiemarks, we see flashbacks for each of the mane six
For Applejack, she grew up on an apple orchard, naturally when kids grow up in a family that has a pre-existing business, they fear that they will be forced to do the same thing, they feel like they won't be able to chose their path in life, Applejack fearing that this was the case ran away to Manehatten, where she stayed with her distant family, the Oranges, but she feels she doesn't quite fit in there, Eventually she goes home, where she gets her cutie mark.
Now onto the cutiemarks itself, three apples. Why three apples, why not just one red apple, or better yet why not an apple tree? I believe that the reason Applejack has three apples for her cutie mark is because of the three other family members she has. If we think about it, we do not see Applejacks parents, the fandom has ultimately decided that they are dead, this leaves behind Big Mac, Granny Smith, and Applebloom. Now the three apples could be symbolic of not only taking care of the apple orchard but also taking care of her family. I find it somewhat humors and quite ingenious, and it wouldn't be to far fetched.
Lets take a look at what we know about Applejack. Applejack appears to be in charge of almost everything on the farm. We have seen her coordinate how the orchard will be harvested, she is in charge of putting up and tearing down, barns on the family property, and we have seen her personally delivering an apple tree to her cousin. Applejack is a no nonsense working pony, who takes care of the orchard, now lets look into her family life, we have seen her rush to the aid of her younger sister, when she went to confront Zecora, we've seen her freak out about her sister being left home alone, she's saved Granny Smith from plunging into a kitty pool filled with water.
Next lets talk about Pinkie Pie. She lived on a rock farm, probably the most boring way to live, So she throws a party for her family, they end up loving it and she gets he cutiemarks, now my question for you all is, did any of you notice the color of the balloons, or the way they were arranged? I'd suggest you take a good long look at that and tell me what you see. Now as for the symbolism behind her cutiemarks, it symbolizes the first time she ever made somepony happy, and it happened to be her family as well. Who would not feel great about making your family super happy?
Next is Fluttershy. She is a less then good flyer, and she's bullied for it, Rainbow Dash fights for her honor, and in the process she is knocked to the ground below, she almost dies, but is saved by butterflies. Now some of you are already starting to work some things out, being saved by butterflies is a very big, life changing event, and it happened so right before she learned she could speak to animals, can someone say symbolism?
Next is Rarity, unfortunately I can't seem to find anything that would influence her cutiemarks, Rarity's story is probably the vaguest of all. I would love to hear some of your thoughts on Rarity and her cutie mark.
Next is Twilight Sparkle. For this one I might be stretching it a bit, but, what is Shining Armor's cutiemarks? A shield with a purple Arcane star in the middle. Before Twilight wanted to study at Celestia's school for gifted unicorns, she thought her brother was the most magically gifted unicorn, she knew, note I saw "knew", not known, knew. I believe that when she was studying magic to get into the school, she was trying to be like her brother.
Finally we have Rainbow Dash. So what could affect her cutiemarks? Well fist off lets look at her hair. She thinks she's awesome, naturally she would see her hair as the best thing ever, next she lived in Cloudsdale, where everything is made of clouds, and finally, what do we consider the fastest thing in the entire world? Light. Lightning is very fast, so to a young filly who wants to be the fastest Pegasus, lightning would naturally be something a filly would think is cool.
What do you think? let me know in the comments section below, and feel free to call me out on any information you might find a bit iffy.
