Rule 34 Updates resuming June 2016

I need to take a temporary leave of absence from the Rule 34 updates. I'll be back in a couple of months and will strive to have 3 months worth of data to discuss. In the meantime, please enjoy these pictures of shaved horses:

500+ Followers/ Ask Me Anything 2 · 2:18pm Jul 30th, 2012

Last night I reached the milestone of 500 followers. Thank you, everyone, for taking such an interest in my stories. I'll keep writing, because it's what I love to do. The feedback I receive is like the whipped cream on my literary angel food cake. It's still tasty by itself and I can eat it plain; but reader input makes the experience sweeter than anything I could ever make on my own. So thank you. Thank you for all the comments. Some are insightful, others are hilarious, but all are wonderful.

I think it's also time for another "ask me anything!" Feel free to ask me whatever you want. Favorite episode? Favorite pony meme? Overrated trope in the fandom? General writing tips or advice? I'll answer any question! Even if the answer is 'I'm sorry I can't answer that,' it still technically counts as having been answered! I'm eager to see what's on your minds.

For the record, here is the first 'ask me anything.' Some questions you have might already have been answered there.

Do you... Like men?

Joking. :rainbowlaugh:

Let's be serious here, get off the topic of ponies.

What games do you play? Preferably video games related, such as TF2, Metro: 2033, Fallout, et cetera. Doesn't have to be console, could be WoW, or another MMORPG.

What....is your name? What...is your quest? What...is the airspeed velocity of an unladen pegasus?:rainbowwild:

How many hats do you own? Any self-respecting writer has to own a lot of hats.

258966
What do you mean? African or European swallow?

Where did you hide the body?

258970

Oh...um, well...I don't know thaAHHHHHHH!!!! *Thrown Offscreen*

Anything you say? :pinkiecrazy:

Well......do you like bananas? :trollestia:

258973
You have to know these things when you're a king, you know?

How do you go about developing character personalities?

I have been trying to do some writing, but I have been having some problem areas. I would appreciate any tips and advice. If you don't mind that is.:fluttershysad:

Aside from the excuse to make rampant innuendo jokes, what made you decide on a sperm bank and a phone sex line for Lyra and Bon Bon's employment?

Why did you start writing in the first place?

I hate to ask, but could you look at my story and tell me the stuff wrong with it?
I know there are things wrong, and I've had one person review the story already.
But I want someone who writes stories I like to tell me what's wrong and if there's a way to fix it.

You don't have to, but you did say ask you anything.
so as a backup:
who is the bestest best pony in all of Equestria?

What's your least liked fan interpretation of MLP? (i.e. Flutershy being a dirty novelist; Pinkie Pie = Kinky Pie)

First off, I just wanted to say I love your writings. Second off, I'd love to know where you got the inspiration for LaBBOJ I and II. A :moustache: for you, good sir.

Okay, I've got a tough one for you. The genre of mlp fanfiction "HiE" is largely concidered bad. why is that? Is it due to overused tropes or themes? Or is it just a bad case of to many bad writers? What are your thoughts B.S.?

When did you decide Clop was a legitimate thing to write about? I met quite a few authors here and read around 6 Million words in my time on this site, and most said they either hated cloppy stories or went with it right from the start.

You, on the other hand, started out gradually. Was it a gradual "slide into the abyss", or why did you decide sex was alright in your stories?

Has anyone ever told you you look kind of like a younger Chris Hansen?

Has anyone ever told you your display picture looks like Will Arnett?

Right. Like the guy in the $5,000 suit has time to respond to your question? Come on!

Actually, my avatar is a ponified version of a scene from the movie Insidious. That's movie star Patrick Wilson in my avatar, not me.

259074

No, but why don't you
t.qkme.me/5ys9.jpg
and we can talk about it.

259158
Alright, that settles it. I wasn't a follower before since I don't usually follow others, but you have earned it with that response. :moustache:

What else do you do IRL besides writing horse stories? :derpytongue2:

What is you penis size?

258965
I actually rarely, if ever, play any electronic games these days. I'm more of an old school board gamer.

259264 Bah, borin' you are.

Kidding. We all have things we come to enjoy besides technology, I guess. :moustache:

259264
what kind of board games?

258968

I'm not a TF2 player, but I can respect any game that spawns wearable forms of currency.

258974

I will only eat bananas that have been... (ahem) personally handled by your Majesty.

"...oh my." :trollestia:

If knighty were a mare, would you screw him/her?

who is your husbando and waifu?:trixieshiftright:

Where do you get the inspiration for your stories?

259262
What's my size? It's a 7.

A pilot G-2 07, to be exact.
teleburst.files.wordpress.com/2010/10/pilot-g-2.jpg
I hope that answers your question regarding what the size of my pen is. :trollestia:

Can you give me some advice on ways to make my stories better?

259158

How did you react when you realized that Lauren Faust is a huge fan of Arrested Development?

*She is, check her DeviantART page Fyre-Flye.

John De Lancie's first words when he walks into Bronycon with his documentary crew: "I've made a huge mistake."

JK! :trollestia: I'm sure the doc will be so awesome! :rainbowkiss:

Do you know any good ways to fight procrastination?

260065
I'll tell you later... (rimshot)
equestriabr.files.wordpress.com/2012/03/pinkie_pie_drummer_vector_by_nrxia-d4mpg7f.png

Hmmm... how to fight procrastination... I've got it! Go back in time and stop Al Gore from creating the Internet! Browsing the web accounts for 95 percent of all my procrastination.

Though to be fair, sometimes procrastination is necessary, especially for creative works.
marccortez.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/procrastination.jpg

Don't fight procrastination! Let it work for you! An adrenaline rush comes when you think you're running out of time. That can spur you on to greater levels of productivity!

The secret is to give yourself less time to finish than what you actually have. That way, when you wait until the 'last minute' to get stuff done, you'll still have a day or two to spare. This won't won't work in all cases, but it's a step in the right direction.

The most important thing to remember is that shunning procrastination need not be one of the social mores we adhere to. Instead, we should embrace it for what it is: An necessary evil in creative and business endeavors.

Will you be creating anything for National Pony Writing Month?

260112
No one ever asked me. :fluttercry:
Actually, it does look tempting... but 5,000 words? I couldn't even get 10,000 words into Lyra and Bon Bon's Odd Jobs before I slipped back into my old familiar writing style and got slapped with a Mature rating. Those EQD judges would eat me alive if I tried something.

Although I have been tooling around with a family-friendly Lyra and Bon Bon adventure story in the near future. Maybe after the second Odd Jobs story is complete, hmm? I don't know what it is about Lyra and Bon Bon, but I'm quickly developing an affinity for those two.

your popularity sky rocketed with Lyra and Bon-Bon's odd-jobs, but you noted that you still wished your other stories got recognition as well. That being said, what do you think made Odd-jobs so successful?

258979
I don't mind at all! Thank you for asking!

Decide who your characters are before you start writing. Look at MLP:FIM as an example of a series that takes established character tropes and fleshes them out and makes the characters more well-rounded than they have any business being.

Assuming you want to stay in universe, look to the show as a building block. Take Fluttershy as an example. What do we know about her? She's the element of kindness. :yay: She's good with animals... :flutterrage: usually. She has a questionable relationship with Angel Bunny that borders on abusive. :fluttershyouch: She has a tendency to be a doormat and is pathologically shy. :fluttershysad: That's her core. When anything happens to Fluttershy in your story, ask yourself how would Fluttershy react to this situation based on what we know about her. Have your plot bend to the characters. Don't make them conform themselves to the story. The reader should feel that the characters are making decisions and doing things in a manner that seems natural. That's the sign of good writing.

If you want to include an original character, I have some suggestions there as well. I've included OCs in my stories before, usually out of necessity's sake. (MLP needs a wider range of male characters for me to work with!)

When starting from scratch, you need to create the personality, like I presented with Fluttershy earlier. Make sure they have flaws and solve their problems without solutions being handed to them. This makes for compelling stories. Hope this helps, and good luck with the writing!

I'll be honest, Lyra and Bon Bon's Odd Jobs started from a stupid idea. Let me give you an example of how my mind works.

I was watching the Last Round Up. (the iTunes version, before they censored Derpy! :rainbowkiss:) I, like many bronies, thought Cherries Jubilee sounded and acted like a saloon-era prostitute. When the conveyor belt cherries were filling Pinkie's mouth, I wondered what might be on the belt instead of cherries if this really was a whorehouse.

That's the reason why I made Lyra and Bon Bon's Odd Jobs. For that one chapter where they drank cum. I wanted to make a parody of an overly-parodied scene from I Love Lucy that revolved around semen.
