Sporadic Update #5 · 12:29am Aug 1st, 2015
Hey all! Just figured that I would give an update on some things since I’ve been quiet for quite some time now. I’ve been tremendously busy with a lot of life that’s gotten in the way of doing any sort of productive writing for a while now.
Since August of last year, I’ve moved not two, not three, not four, but five separate times, and will be moving a sixth time before this coming August is over.
It’s been so exhausting and I just haven’t had the time to do much of anything. It’s been an absolute mess, but I’m really (really, really, really, really) hoping that things die down around here soon and I actually get to stay in one place for more than a few months, and can actually start writing again.
The most difficult part of moving so much has by far been having to learn a new kitchen layout with every house. You have no idea how many times I’ve went to open a drawer to get some silverware or something, because that’s where it was in the previous house, only to have something else entirely there. It’s very annoying.
And, add on to that the general tribulations of moving and just having a normal life, and I’ve been all out of sorts. It’s taken me a few days to just write this update.
But, enough about that. Let’s move on to some updates about my stories here on FimFiction:
~Bricks in the Wall~ Currently my only incomplete published story, and it’s going to be staying incomplete for a little while longer. With everything going on, I’ve barely touched it, and since the final chapter is probably going to be considerably longer than any of the other ones, that means it’s even less along than some of the others would’ve been at the same point.
The last chapter will happen eventually, but when that is, I have no idea. It’s sad because I have all of it planned out and I really want to write it, but whenever I do have time, I just can’t bring myself to actually do it.
~Shadows~ However, in other news, I have been writing something new, and a little unconventional. ‘Shadows’ is Lovecraftian-inspired, psychological horror story that deals with one stallion's struggle with forces out of his control. The idea came from one of the stories from my own 'THIS IS A STORY' that I've since deleted and re-purposed into this. I’ve written four out of twelve or so chapters of so far. I wrote those four chapters in the space of a month, and then, as I began the fifth, I had to move and I’ve barely touched it since.
Of course, part of that reason is whenever I have gone back to writing it, I’ve had some serious writer’s block, and I’ve only written a few paragraphs in some four months. I’m hoping to get back to writing it soon, though. I want to get some chapters on backlog before I publish the story, and hopefully that occurs sooner rather than later.
~Taxi~ This is a short story about a taxi stallion and a mare that he gives a ride to one night, based off of the 1972 Harry Chapin song of the same name. If you know that song at all, then you’ll know what to expect. If not, then expect something very simple and very slice-of-life. This will certainly be happening either next or soon after that.
Of course, with me, that could mean in a month or two, or in another year.
~A Horse with No Name~ I’ve talked about this story in the past. This is about a Saddle Arabian stallion that travels across a vast desert in search of the fabled ocean that lies on the other side and all the challenges he faces.
I have all of this planned out, but just like everything else here, I’ve made no headway on it. Parts of it are written, but I probably won’t even attempt to begin this again until the previous three stories are done or nearing completion, despite the fact that this had been around longer than two of them. It will probably take up a lot of my time.
~Daring Do and Her Abrupt Death Partway through the Story~ This should be an interesting story. It’s exactly what it says on the tin. Specifically, it’s going to be a Daring Do adventure story, but partway through it, she is going to die abruptly and without warning, leaving no conclusion to the plot or any slight indication of what happens after, except the chance that the bad guy won.
Out of all the stories here, this one had the greatest chance of never happening. I have yet to do any planning on it, besides coming up with the idea, and if I can’t write it like how I’ve envisioned it, then I may have to drop it, unfortunately.
Well, that’s all there is coming up from me in the near future.
Goodbye. Now, I have to go start packing. Again.
I was getting worried, in that we hadn't heard from you in a while. Thanks for the update!
