I'm sure most of the good folk that find this blog will know I do a lot of shared work with Bluemoon. I mean, there is an entire widget on my profile with stories we've worked on together.

    Birthday Blog

Okay, I wasn't planning a post for my B-Day this year, but then Bluey went and wrote me a story last night after I went to sleep and I can't not promote it... Not only does it use two neglected characters of ours but it's just so sweet (both as a story and of him...)

    New Year

Welp. That's another year down. Not sure what to say about it. It's been a lot of ups and downs, but not bad overall. Time to start working on the new one.

My poor loyal steed was lamed...

Welp... I've been having a string of bad luck. First my battery died Saturday morning. I got that boosted but was told the battery reserves are drained and it's only working at 40% efficiency or so and might fail in a short while. Then I also found out my headlight was blown. Easy enough fix. Got a bulb at Walmart and got that changed with about twenty minutes of effort, a pair of pliers, a

    New Name, New Chapter

I've finally gotten around to it! As much as I love the name Grey, and it's related Greycait (which is an alt of Greycat), it's a name for another site and another face of mine. Finally got around to changing the name to my (hopefully set) ponysona Grey Seeking Dusk (sue me, I like Grey...) Of course, the moment I designed it all that time ago a plethora of stories around the

With Special Guest: Shagohad

(Grey) One day not that long ago, Shagohad posted a thread with the word 'stargate' and 'co-writer' in it. I… don't remember which group it was in. All I know is that about a minute later I was looking at a PM already sent that basically said 'so much yes, all of the yes.' What followed was a PM discussion of MLP and Stargate themes, then a document filled with more of the same, and then a document with the actual chapter (and even more discussions and musings on MLP and Stargate themes. You can never have enough of that.)

We did not expect to get featured the same day as posting this story. Or to breaking the 100 like barrier either (I even got through the hundred follower mark!).

(Shagohad) I certainly didn't expect the story to be so popular I got the idea after I found out that Stargate was no Ionger on Netflix. After that I hopped on the Stargate wiki, and ended up on the city ship wiki and found out about Admah, a city ship with a different culture from atlantis and the idea came to me, 'what if one city ship left because they didn't like what the Lanteans were becoming and left to a new galaxy...and what if that galaxy contained Equestria?'

So, taking that idea, I posted that thread and grabbed a rather awesome co-writer in the form of Grey Cait here. ( who remembers a hell of a lot more stargate than I do.)

(Grey) What can I say? I'm a fan. I'm not even as bad as I used to be. A year or two ago I was able to identify episodes based on three or so lines of conversation for both SG1 and SGA. Still, his idea seemed awesome and completely viable for the Stargate and MLP verses. The Lanteans were pretty amoral with their plans (I mean, seriously, an explosive tumor machine?). The legends I found about Shangri-La fit not only the more idealistic ancient mindset we've seen from those in the Cloister and Oma Desala and her fan club, but also Equestra itself. And of course, once we got the idea of Daniel, Carter, Twilight and the fandom's idea of researcher Lyra together in one room. It was such a beautiful picture I shed a tear.

Well, tears.

They were from laughing, but the thought counts and the principle remains the same.

(Shagohad) for those wondering timeline, on the SG said, this is after the finale of Destiny and on the Mlp side, right after the season 3 premiere.

(Grey) I've also thrown in some flavour from the Legacy books, which I'm also a big fan of. I recommend them for anyone dissatisfied with where they left Atlantis hanging.

Anyway… Shad, do you know the words to the theme song?

(Shag) which theme song would that be?

(Grey) I was thinking of the words they came up with in one of the commentaries, but now I'm thinking of how to either Ponify it, or Gatify the MLP one… I'll have to get back to you on that one...

(Shag) sounds like a plan

(Grey) But that's for later! We still have writing to do! Get ready for a trip!

(Grey) PS: I should probably also say prepare for possible spoilers if you haven't watched/read all the Stargate media. While we aren't going to say 'here's what happened' (most of the time), references may and will be made.

I was never a fan of the SG television show. It always seemed to fall into the 'villain of the week' theme that early Star Trek was - not that that's bad, just not my cuppa. But I love the idea of Stargate and how potentially expansive the world could be. Throw in things like Merlin and other 'high science as magic' stuff and it oughta've been right up my alley. Never caught on. EDIT: With me.

That being said, I think I would enjoy the written word of Stargate more than the show (the initial movie was pretty dang good but that's a whole other slice of cake). Fanfictions in particular that wouldn't shy away from some of the more ... shall we say intense ideas that the Stargate universe offers? So I've always liked to jump into any MLP-SG fanfictions that pop up if only for the potential. Followed a few as well. The way it's being written thus far makes me hopeful for this particular story and I'm glad that I caught it enough to start reading. Looking forward to more.

And culture clash. Gotta love that culture clash.

Guessing you didn't stick with it for long.

Well, 'villain of the next four episodes that might pop back up to be helpful in the fourth season' just didn't roll of the tongue as well. My wife loved the thing so it's not like I wasn't exposed to it. Just never really caught on with me.

Fair enough.

As long as y'all don't go into the SGU gobshite they did, we'll all be fine. SGU was overhyped, eh.

What do you mean when you say the finale of destiny for the stargate timeline? The only destiny I can find is an Ancient ship from SGU.

3278310 I meant SGU sorry.

What will be truly interesting is how the different cultures will clash and how Lyra will handle having her hypothesis being proven true. This just has a feel of a story that could become epic! So who will be the villains in this universe?

Oh man.

This has just so much potential in here. And giving who's writing the thing...
Damn. This is gonnna rock.

Would it be possible for SG-Atlantis Characters to show up?

Woo another Stargate crossover.

To be honest, I'm rather surprised your idea of incorporating the Crystal Empire as one of the Ancients' city ships hasn't happened earlier. I mean, just look at that bloody freaking "castle"--if that doesn't just scream "alien starship architecture", nothing does! And it's certainly a more logical reason for a SG/MLP crossover than anyone else has done. Great Job!:moustache:

Definitely liking where this is going:pinkiehappy:
