Thought Prism Recommends: Psycho-Pass · 12:06am Jul 29th, 2015
So, this is going to be a semi-regular thing I do now, in which I tell you, my loyal followers, about good stuff to watch or play. Today's segment is on the anime Psycho-Pass.
Written by the creator of Madoka Magica, Psycho-Pass is a through-provoking action-thriller set in a pseudo-utopian Japan 100 years from now. In this time, the technology exists such that the human mind can have its complete emotional contents analyzed easily and quickly. The Sibyl System, a massive AI, runs the country using this technology to monitor everyone's state of mind to ensure maximum happiness, regardless of what each individual person wants out of life. Our protagonist, Akane, is a member of the public safety bureau, tasked with capturing 'latent criminals' before they can act, Tom Cruise style. Expect plenty of gore and dark themes.
In what is probably the only thing about the show similar to MLP, Akane also happens to be a really strong female character, quite rare these days. Though, it's the villain is who steals the show by the halfway point. In my opinion, Makishima is probably the best villain in any form of media, ever (see userpage for an example gif). By the end, I wholeheartedly wished for him to succeed.
Ok, I'm done, you can all go watch it now.
