    Cancelled a few things

If you noticed (you probably didn't) I moved some statuses over to 'cancelled'. Mostly there were years-old stories that I just don't have the werewithal to mess with any more. I moved them over for clarity's sake.

    I'm not dead.

    Evidence shall be forthcoming.

Trying to get back in the swing of things. No promises except that I'll try. If not, it's another (Incomplete) tag to add to the growing pile! :pinkiecrazy:

    5000 followers!

    That's a lot! Like a heap!

And I have nothing. I have no updates, no news, no goddamn anything. And that's a problem! I should have news, and updates. I've got one or two things I'm intending to work on, but I haven't actually done that. Most of my time has been spent working for Someone's PC doing those stories.

Would you buy a novel from the peganon? · 3:18pm Jul 27th, 2015

I've had this idea kicking around in my head for a while.

It's not MLP. So let's get that out of the way immediately.

I've got this entire universe set out, in sci-fi. I'm going to be extremely vague because of reasons that will be outlined right meow!

I've kind of wanted to finish this novel and get it published. You know, as a book. A thing with pages, and a cover, and that lovely, earthy smell fresh from the bookstore. Pretty cover art. Proper editing, etc.

That has been my goal ever since I was a kid, really. I wanted to be big Mr Hotshot writer. Unfortunately, the kinds of things I write don't appeal to the teenage market so much. They don't really appeal to many markets at all. And sci-fi is a pretty rough place to try and start out anyway.

Not to mention that with my current, uh, 'portfolio' of works, if my fanfiction name got tied to my authorship name, that would likely end badly.

After a little bit of thinking, I decided that I'm not going to be big Mr Hotshot writer. I'm not, and excuse my language here, enough of a pretentious cunt to compete with other writers. I don't want to have to sit down and think of adverbs and pronouns and not ending on a proposition. I don't want to write a BS allegory tale with hidden double meanings.

I want to write something fun. I just want to write a fucking good time in text form.

So. If it came right down to it: Would you buy something from Anonymous Pegasus? A full-length novel. I can promise only that it will have action, a continent getting glassed, and interspecies relationship-building of the insane, crazy kind you probably expect to see from me.

I'm not cut from the right cloth to be an actual author. But I think I could handle publishing my dreck on lulu.com or something.

Obviously, I wouldn't be able to just give the finished away. It would be just like a novel at the store. Or one you purchase online, I guess. To go on your kindle or iPad or iCarpet or whatever you crazy kids are using these days.

And, of course, I'm not going to stop writing pony. It's just be nice to evict some of these ideas from my head and put them on paper for people to enjoy.

Yes/no?

Also, I've been working erry goddamn day (including weekends!) for the last two/three weeks. That's why I haven't written anything! :fluttershbad:

Maybe.I'll take a look at the title and whatnot. Then I'll decide if I want to buy it.I like sci-fi stories.

Show me the cover art, a basic preview and you've got a deal.

Totally. Love Sci-Fi, and I'll give any book a shot. I love your writting not just for the clop, or the ponies, I love your work because it's freaking amazing.

probable, would have to read the 'inside flap' first.

Action?
Continent getting glassed?
interspecies relationship?

PFfft

Sign me up.

Definitely. Unless it costs more than I imagine it would... 1st-world poverty and all that. An E-book doesn't cost more than 10 smackers does it?

Yes. I could give the book a shot.

And because of this blog, I now have a picture of a pony, aiming at nobels with a blunderbuss whilst screaming; “Shut the buck up and take my money!”. Now shooting coins/bits after them, because the pony with the blunderbuss is about to pay taxes to them.

New headcanon on how Granny Smith pays taxes was made.

I don't want to have to sit down and think of adverbs and pronouns and not ending on a proposition. I don't want to write a BS allegory tale with hidden double meanings.

I want to write something fun.

Just a short notice here: have you read "The Martian"? As far as I'm aware it doesn't have any sophisticated language (outside of technical speech here and there) and if there were any double meaning things, they got lost on me. And despite all that it was great fun to read. And afaik it is or was a bestseller.

So don't be afraid of "competing with other writers" because they may have more sophisticated ways of presenting a story. If you write something that is fun to read from the get go and one finds it hard to stop reading, then it will be a success as long as it reaches people.

Isn't it a thing with publishers that you drop them a draft and be like "just read first 3 pages, if you don't want to keep reading after that...".

I'd buy a novel written by you.

If only you could see my personal library. As long as it has romance and comedy I'll buy it.

Like some have said, I'd have to look at the title, and read the blurb to get a sense of the book. If it looked interesting, I'd consider getting it the next time I robbed someone found some money.

I think if i was lives in another country - yes. But many shops do not deliver in Russia.

I'd buy one, I've enjoyed reading your other works:pinkiehappy:

You should check Viking ZX's blog.
He is actually independent writer who successfully published two non-pony books on Amazon. And he wrote about his experience in blog.
As to your question - I personally would buy electronic version of your book (printed one will probably too expensive, I suspect, although it depends on price) as long as it contains romance and romance is straight.
BTW: Did you think about patreon or kickstarter ?

this is how I imagine it happening...

If it was the same quality as the rest of your work, I.E. wonderful, I would have no qualms about paying for a decent sized book. Especially since it seems to be such a novel idea.

That honestly depends on the plot of the story. I'd read something from you if the plot was interesting to me, just like I would only read a book from Stephen Baxter, my favorite sci-fi author, if the plot sounds interesting.

a continent getting glassed

Well now, that sold it for me. As long as the story is based on actual science and realism, not fake star wars "don't give a shit about physics" attitude, then I guess I might actually check it out. You can have made up forms of energy and bend the laws of physics as long as it either follows some hypothesis for things today or something, but nothing like Han Solo who "made the Kessel Run in less than twelve parsecs". Because that is lazy and doesn't even make sense, which is also the kind of sci-fi I will not read.

Also, the Kessel Run is something that was later justified by using black holes to cut down real space travel, but that is literally them just filling in holes because George Lucas doesn't care about realism. Granted, Star Wars wouldn't be Star Wars if it was realistic, but that doesn't mean realism is boring, just that it is hard to make interesting to the average person. Like how real space ships could be square blocks, and that would work.

I would. You've been one of my favorite authors for years (here and on other sites), and I'd love to see what you could do with a longer story set in your own universe.

I would, without question.

Interplanetary species mingling make up many of my favorite stories. That being so, not only would I buy it, I am already getting hyped for it :).

Yeah man, count me in.

been reading your writing since you used the username Miralage love your writing and yes i would pay for a full length novel. i would much prefer a physical copy (aka. an actual book) though but ill take what i can get

I would say that you have what it takes to either go into regular market Scifi or into Scifi porn. As long as you publish your porn under an alias different from your open-market nom-de-plume, those stories will be plusses in your portfolio... unless you wanted to publish in a Christian editorial.

BTW: whatever you do, don't even consider self-publishing. If no editor is willing to put their own money on the line to get your story out there, then your story won't sell. Self-publishing is the resource of stubborn idiots.

Yep, I would.

it will have action, a continent getting glassed, and interspecies relationship-building

Look, I do love to help fuel peoples dreams, but I just can't find it in me to promise to buy something I probably won't. The quote makes me fear that it would be...just, so generic! No offense, but yeah! I just can't get close to something I might just drop on the shelf and forget about while working for shitimum wage (7.25 here).

In the end, I'll have to see what format it'd be, and costs. Frankly, I'm not a fan of digital distribution even if it is cheap.

3276081 Well, I guess there's no harm in revealing the plot of the story.

Basically, Australia is invaded by an alien force intend on creating a beachhead and eventually their own little slice of bug-heaven.

Earth is attacked by a bug-like race, that was, up until that point, part of a galactic confederacy ensuring that 'unevolved' planets and species would remain, as much as possible, oblivious to the larger workings of the universe and the sapient species that reside there. This bug species broke that treaty by invading earth.

They chose Australia because it has a huge, sea-locked landmass with one of the lowest population densities. Less resistance from humans, less humans to resist, etc.

The front-line units that arrive on the scene first are the Felvari. They are a duality of two different species that evolved on different moons. There were originally five different species. They destroyed eachother and ended up with two different species. Each species 'evolved' to a different purpose. The fighter felvari are warriors and scouts. The other species are scientists and great thinkers. They are, obviously, physically different. Genetically compatible, but because of cultural reasons, they don't inter-breed.

The warrior felvari are the first to arrive, a week after the initial evasion, when most of Australia's cities are reduced to a wasteland. There's a whole lot more that will happen.

But basically, the glassing doesn't come from the aliens. It comes when the UN, with the backing of every nuclear-armed nation on earth, decides that it would be better to lose Australia than to lose the entire planet.

Australia is carpet bombed with nuclear ordinance, rendering it an irradiated wasteland unfit for habitation, and largely just glass.

Generic enough for you?

3276247 that honestly sounds awesome

I've always been a sucker for projects like this. at least I know it's going to be good(unlike a few kick starters I've backed lol). If you move forward with this you can count me in for a copy.

I too have been following since the days of 'Miralage', and would buy a copy of your novel without a second thought ^^

"Just take my money!" ^_^
In all seriousness though your a good writer, given the chance to purchase something written by you to place upon my book shelf I would pounce on the offer.

Depends in the story and its background.

Does your sci-if story have excellent lore/background that makes it rich and entertaining? I find that I usually only read long novels with very deep and complex lore elements.

To put it plain and simple. Fuck yes.

Yeah, I would. I understand publishing direct to Kindle through Amazon Publishing is the hot new thing in indie these days—I think Lulu and Smashwords are kind of old and busted now.
