A Christian nerd; probably the only guy you ever met who wanted the Larrymobile to be transformed by the All-Spark. My brother, The Traveler12, is NOT the lamest person you've ever met. Check him out!

Spoiler Alert: Age of Ultron, Part Three · 12:33am Jul 23rd, 2015

:facehoof:: The Avengers realize that if Ultron killed Strucker, then the Baron must have known something important. They look through lists of Strucker's associates and find Ulysses Klaw, a weapons dealer who comic fans know as the Black Panther's archenemy. If you're not interested in Black Panther, don't worry, because despite his prominence in advertising, Klaw has little importance to this film.
Regardless, Cap and Tony realize, based off of Klaw's file, that he has a supply of Vibranium. Vibranium is one of the strongest materials in the Marvel Universe and was used to construct Cap's shield, so that must be what Ultron wants.
:duck:: Ultron and the Maximoffs head to Africa, where they buy Klaw's, um, Vibranium. However, when Klaw mentions Tony Stark, Ultron goes into a rage and slices Klaw's hand off.
This is the first sign of one of Ultron's flaws as a villain. We don't really know what he's like. Half of the film, he acts like a sophisticated, snarky chessmaster. The other half he acts like an impulsive, violent child. And the two never integrate enough to feel like a genuine personality. It's more like they wanted to reproduce Loki's personality, but didn't take the time to make such a complex character believable.
:twilightangry2:: Also, Black Panther is supposed to cut off Klaw's hand, so having a character with little to no connection to Klaw really messes up HIS character arc.
:pinkiecrazy:: Plus, we could've cut him out and replaced him with Baron Von Strucker and avoided multiple problems!!

:rainbowdetermined2:: However, Ultron's crazy ranting gets interrupted by the Avengers, who start a team-on-team brawl. Things look pretty even matched 'till Scarlet Witch starts warping the Avengers' minds. Ya know, except Hawkeye. 'Cause he ain't doing THAT again.
:twilightoops:: Iron Man also avoids the Scarlet Witch, as he's too busy battling Ultron until he realizes that an addled Hulk is attacking the nearby city. Since Natasha is too out of it to use Bruce's might-be-Trigger-Phrase, Stark has to use the Hulkbuster armor, which is launched as a Drop Pod from a satellite code-named Veronica.
Wait, Veronica? As in BETTY and Veronica?!

:flutterrage:: So Whedon spends this whole movie ignoring Banner's relationship with Betty in favor of his crack ship, then decides to metaphorically relate Betty to a machine designed to defeat Bruce?
Well, @#$% you too, jerk!
:rainbowderp:: Yeah, I'm not a fan of all that mushy stuff gettin' in the way of my explosions, but if you're gonna use it, use it right.
Anyway, the fight between the Hulk and Iron Man is really cool, especially since this Hulkbuster has a lot of extra tricks beyond just being a really big suit of armor, so it's actually a better fight than most of their fights in comics. Plus, they still cause less property damage and loss of life than Man of Steel did. And, y'know, Stark pays for clean-up.
:twilightsheepish:: So, at a low point after getting physically and psychologically beaten by their metallic archnemesis, the team decide to recuperate at one of the heroes' family farm and....
Wait, where have I seen this plot point before?

:applejackconfused:: Well, didn't expect ta see THAT film as an inspiration here.
:duck:: Now if only it was anywhere near as believable for the world-famous Mighty Avengers to seek refuge on a farm as it was for the penniless outcasts.
:twilightsheepish:: At the farm, we find out that Hawkeye has a wife and two kids, with a third on the way. Now, it is an interesting contrast to see Clint as the grounded one giving all of the other Avengers some stability. And given that movie Hawkeye is closer in inspiration to Ultimate Hawkeye than to classic Hawkeye, I suppose I should understand why he has a family and be glad that they haven't been slaughtered like his Ultimate family was. But it would help if, oh, how do I put it...?

...Could you be reading a little to much into this? I thought it was just a Pop Culture reference.

3268348 Maybe. But either way, Whedon chose to remind us of Betty, while intentionally keeping her completely out of the story. And that feels very passive-aggressive to me.
