    Catching up and moving forwards

So I've been active, if not exactly vocal about it on this blog. Over the last few weeks I've been taking a few prompts from the Equestria Daily Writer's Training Grounds and turning them into short stories in less than a week, one even made it to the front page briefly.

A few progress updates and a book recommendation

I've been a bit distracted and busy the last few weekends, but have made progress on the next Chapter of the Moon story. It's sitting at 5,000 words, with a good deal left to go though. Hopefully I can really dig into it this weekend and have it ready for the week after. It's the action-iest chapter I've ever written, so I'm pouring through thesauri finding good adjectives for words like

*Tap* *Tap* *Tap* -- Is this thing still on?

It's been a weird few weeks for me. A family emergency demanded a 4,500 mile road trip, which actually ended up becoming a fairly fun family vacation. Luckily I have a very forgiving boss, and plenty of comp time saved up. So, I saw a few parts of the country I've never seen before, including the Grand Canyon, Mt. Ranier, and the Columbia River Gorge.

    Still here. Still writing.

Ye gods, what a month. You never really appreciate how wedded you are to your familiar settings and rhythms until something out of the blue completely disrupts them for a significant period of time. To put a long and sad story short, I had to give my writing space, bedroom, and lots of my free time to an unexpected house guest. So a month of sleeping on a couch, albeit a very comfy couch, and

    Incoming chapter

The next 'Moon' chapter en route. I just finished rewrites and will give it another couple of self edits before I post it. Give me a day or two and it'll be all ready to go. I think you'll like it: There's a good bit of foreshadowing and character development that will set the stage for some fun stuff (not that there isn't a bit of action in this chapter). The first interlude should be

So I've been active, if not exactly vocal about it on this blog. Over the last few weeks I've been taking a few prompts from the Equestria Daily Writer's Training Grounds and turning them into short stories in less than a week, one even made it to the front page briefly. Here's the latest, which is based on the "Do Princesses Dream of Electric Sheep" episode.

I've worked myself back into the habit of writing on a shorter self imposed deadline, and now that we're back in the show's hiatus, I think it's an ideal time for me to get to work on my next multi-chapter story arc. I've got three chapters mostly written, but they're still fairly rough. If anyone feels up to it, I could use some criticism and proofreading assistance, just send me a message and I'll send you the unpublished view password.

The Moon Has a Harsh Mistress is on hiatus until I feel the urge to write sci fi again. It's weird: I like to write Fantasy when I'm reading Science Fiction, and vice versa. I've been deep in The Expanse series by the James Corey amalgam, so I've been itching to get back into Fantasy writing.
