So I finally got around to watching Amending Fences.

First and foremost, 'twas a really good episode. Not that I'm ever severely critical of any of the episodes, but I did enjoy this one a lot more than most. It's in my top ten for sure. But seriously though...

Never before has an episode so violently vomited in the face of a headcanon set forth in one of my stories. For a brief moment, I was genuinely tempted to toss an AU tag up on Gravity, but funk that salt, yo. I wrote it first. By like, eleven whole months. Get at me, M.A. Larson. I'll fite u irl bro, do u even lift??1!?

I know it's just me being an idiot because I wrote the dang story, but plot- and theme-wise, I feel like there were some pretty pervasive similarities between the two. My story consists of Moon Dancer finding Twilight buried in her studies in the library, then her subsequently pulling Twilight out of her shell and getting her to meet her old friends. The show? Literally switch out Moon Dancer's and Twilight's names and you're there. I even included Twinkleshine, Lemon Hearts, and Minuette while completely neglecting Lyra. Coincidence?

...Probably.

That's about where the similarities stop, though. Everything else is about as opposite as it can possibly be. Like Moon Dancer. Especially Moon Dancer. Goddayum, Moon Dancer is actually her own polar opposite.

Despite her being an obvious pre-S1 Twilight clone, I actually really like the show's version of her. I'm half tempted to write a shipfic between her and Twi because, I mean, why not? Hop on that boat and sail away you crazy chucklefucks, 'cuz I'm already lost at sea.

Don't worry, even I don't know what I'm saying half the time.

But really, if nothing else, I'm hoping we can get a Moon Dancer tag out of this whole fiasco.
