Hoisted by my own Petard, Maybe?

This chapter is taking longer than I would have liked, and it's not a case of me not trying to write it. In fact, the whole chapter is about half way done in all reality. The problem is, I've kept going back and rewriting scenes to see if they fit. The short end of it is that I need someone to look over what I've written so far and see if it meets the criteria I'm trying to bring it too. For anyone who doesn't want some miniscule spoilers for next chapter turn back now.

Alright then. In the next chapter I'm going to be touching on a very touchy subject. As a result I wanted to sort of ease people into it, before sort of hitting them with the reveal. I naturally did this the way I always do it, with comedy. But as a result, I feel like this chapter is too light, whereas I want it to sort of way on peoples minds a bit. So like I said earlier, I need someone to read through and see if it's dark enough. Not too dark, but just enough that this subject gets the delicacy it deserves. Comment below if you feel like you're up to the task, I'll probably have a couple people do this just to make sure.
