I attempted some marginally more engaging way of writing this post about what I've been up to earlier. It didn't work. So, here we are.
I have the basic plot of the next chapter of Lunatics figured out. I am not, unfortunately, very far into actually writing it. I'd really like to get it done by the end of July, but we'll see how that goes.
What I have been working on instead is two-fold.
The first is, well, work. Given how frequently I give out my actual name to people on this site (I edit using my personal Gmail account), it probably can't hurt to tell y'all that I am working at the Six Flags near me as a ride operator and attendant. I have a shiny new set of calluses—checking around 400 to 500 seat restraints an hour did a number on my hands—and a few hundred more dollars. Yay me.
I've also been having about 60 ounces of Diet Coke a day while I'm at work, so in case that stuff actually does cause cancer, I will absolutely be the first one to tell you so.
So that's all fun.
The other thing I have been working on is almost certainly much more relevant to your interests. I'm writing a new story, with the working title of "Counterparts". Here's an excerpt:
Twilight stared back. "It's not that I dislike him! It's just that—"
"It," Rarity said heavily, in a tone that was about one part reassurance to two parts exasperated menace, "will be fine, and you two will enjoy yourselves. Meanwhile, if any of your erstwhile selves appears, you will make it clear that you are taken."
"How clear?"
"Use your imagination. And common sense, naturally. Needs must, my dear."
Twilight groaned. "Is there any chance he could just watch me reshelve books?"
"Twilight, really, does that sound like a plausible date to..." Rarity tapped her chin. "Hm. I don't suppose you could at least try to engage with him in the process?"
"So we're dropping the dinner date followed by a walk in the park?"
Rarity sighed. "If we must. You are aware that he will still bring you flowers, yes? I may even advise him to try to kiss you at some point."
It's a romantic comedy involving Twilight, Rarity, Macintosh, and an awful lot of obnoxious time-traveling Twilight clones.
"Counterparts". Tell your friends. Tell your enemies. Coming to FIMFiction whenever I get enough of it done to do a proper roll-out. The plan is to publish sometime in August.
Romantic comedy? Time travel? Twilight?
This sounds right up my alley. I'll buy two front row tickets, please.
