Check out this Rainbow Factory cover...

Hey folks, just popping on to share a neat cover I just found. Pristine Lavender sang Glaze's "Rainbow Factory". It sounds like it's actually Dash, singing through a modulator :D

Whooo, boy. Hey folks. Feeling... strange, recently.

There's been a lot of changes in my life since that fateful day four years ago (four?!) when I sent the link for Rainbow Factory to Glaze. Things got... very dark a couple years ago. I went from one of the greatest highs of my life to the deepest pit of despair. Maybe some of you know what happened, but I'm guessing most of you don't. It's not really important to anyone, so I won't delve into details, but anyone still following me or even who's perused my blogs could figure I went from someone who really cared about the fandom and my image in it to someone who couldn't give two fucks about what anyone with a pony avatar had to say.

What I'm typing isn't for sympathy, only context. In February of 2014 something monumental to me rocked my life and shattered every expectation I had for my future. This event left me without a sense of identity or purpose, and, coupled with a dwindling follower base (every "internet famous" person has their five minutes, and I had played mine out to two years) I felt hollow, useless, and without meaning.

Depression is a bitch and if you think you might have it, seek help. I started with counselling after I finally got drunk enough to vomit out how I really felt to my family. Eventually that only took me so far, and 9 months ago I started antidepressants. These get a bad rap online sometimes, but I have to say; the last 6 months have been likely the best in my life so far. I've made real friends. Moved on to a career I enjoy in a place that respects me. Found true hobbies I can share with complete strangers. The catch with not being depressed, of course, isn't that you're always happy, however; For the first time in years, I could feel emotions again. Happiness, yes, contentment and acceptance. These feelings came when they were deserved to be felt. Depression is a black hole that swallows everything, though, and with my new ability to enjoy my life, came renewed ability to be fearful, sad, frustrated, and on and on.

2016 has been a year of many tragedies, both personally for myself and globally; I've yet to find someone who hasn't gladly agreed with the sentiment "Fuck 2016". Lately the deluge of hatred and violence in my social media feeds have been overwhelming and even antidepressants couldn't prevent me from a hanging shadow of sorrow and exhaustion with everything going on. Election fights, scandals, friends unable to meet without arguing about liberal or conservative extremism. I began to search for an out, an escape. Rocket League was one, which I heartily enjoy with some new "IRL" friends (What a weird concept to write, if I may aside.)   Baking has definitely helped, too; usually an argument on Syria can be diffused quickly with a plate of cookies, and I'm getting a reputation as "The Baker" at my workplace.

With new friends being met through work and hobbies, history eventually comes out. We share our successes and our embarrassments, with a trust that they'll never use the info to hurt us as an ultimate expression of love. We divulge information we never thought we'd tell other people, because they find us fascinating, and honestly what's a better story than one they wouldn't believe?

I'm waxing poetic badly here so I'll get to the point: Recently I've told my friends how, after writing a hastily written horror fanfic based on a show I'd only watched half a season of,  inspired by a song I'd heard while heavily stricken with fever, I became a cult sensation in a cult-like group of fans of a show, and it brought me to new countries, new people, and new love in my life. Fantastic claims are only entertaining with proof, of course, so I went searching for relics of my time in this fandom. Comments on my stories. Remixes of songs based off Pegasus Device. Fan art, good lord, the metric ton of fan art. Merch.

Telling my history did little to my friendships; a quick laugh together about it, some questions and expressions of awe and then the conversation moves forward to their quirky past. But what it did do is it got me looking at more fan creations than just the ones meant for me (or rather, my stories.) PMVs. Artwork, music, memes. I remembered how pure and happy this simple cartoon made me feel before hatred and longing for "how things used to be" poisoned my social feeds and corrupted how I felt about the show. It was simple, yet beautiful; relatable, yet unpredictable at times; even often adventurous or thrilling, yet undeniably cute.

Maybe we as a whole blew the whole thing out of proportion. I'm not here to get into that argument. Yes, it was always "Just a cartoon", but it was a well made one, and in these rough times I find myself finding solace in them again. I sing with the intro, repeat quotes that make me laugh, and do I laugh, and do I smile, and I get this warm tingly feeling in my heart that urges me to write this blog post.

I don't really know what the whole point of this post is, truly speaking. I guess I just wanted to say I'm watching MLP again and instead of anger and bad memories it just makes me smile again. And that I miss the energy it had when I first started getting into it, but not in a negative way. It's not so much like an amputee missing a limb, but a knot in a tree where a branch once grew, now part of something much grander and quiet.

Apparently people really need my stories.

I took them down a while ago due to some personal issues I was working through. It's childish and doesn't make sense to do so, I know, but at the time, it made me feel a LOT better.

I just resubmitted three of them today- Rainbow Factory, Pegasus Device, and Turn for the Worse.

These will be the only stories available on this page. I will not be writing anything else for MLP fanfiction. I'm sure most of you already know that, seeing as I haven't written anything for shy of two years *anyways*.

If you need to contact me regarding Rainbow Factory, don't. Here's the rules:

    1. I don't give a fuck what you do with it

    2. I seriously don't care

    3. Yes you can write a sequel where you destroy it in a crossover with your normal series

    4. Seriously holy shit I have never cared omg

    5. Just don't copy it and pass it off as yours because that's a general scumbag thing to do no matter what the content is

    6. But asides from that holy shit I just do not fucking care

Stay tuned for a new story!

    Good news, guys.

TarbyRocks is almost finished his Carousel song. For those of you not in the loop, the 'Carousel' comes not from Rarity's shop but from a small series of grimdark pictures wherein our favorite little ponies are speared by some sort of evil merry-go-round.

While Tarby and I have both taken our inspiration from these pictures our own way, we found they're related enough that we're going to do a duel release. That's right, you're going to have a song and a story based on the same concept.

    Sound familiar?

I'm excited to release it, too: Despite being only a short story, I think it's going to be one of the best fictions I've written. Even if only the quality is the best, I love the plot as well, and I think you're all going to love it with me.

    Can't wait!

(Psssst: I'm also starting to etch out ideas for Fall From Grace to continue. Good things come to those who wait...)

    AuroraDawn Sells Out

Some people may have noticed I'm a little more aggressive with earning money for my writing than most writers here on FIMFiction. I'll never demand money from anyone to see my work, and understand I have no legal right to request payment for the stuff I put on here.

Regardless, I do like staying alive, and artwork- be it drawing or creating or writing- is work. That is why I believe it is acceptable to try and capitalize off of the enjoyment I provide, free, to others.

So; Aurora is a money grubbing whore, but understands he can't--and won't--get paid for what he puts on here. So what does he do?

He opens a spreadshirt store, with designs created by, purchased from, and given permission to use by the very talented owlet57.

If any of my fans are interested, there is a multitude of clothing available at the link below, particularly concerning my "Cloudsdale Weather Corporation" from my story Pegasus Device (and loosely Rainbow Factory; same company, just didn't have a name back then), at the link below.

P.S. If you have enjoyed my writing thoroughly to the point where you *would* consider supporting me, but either don't have enough for or do not want to buy any clothing, donations to my paypal are also encouraged: You can find that here.

    Thanks guys!

    Okay this has to stop

Apologies to the fans who have patiently awaited my next story, and even to those fans who have complained I'm taking too long but stopped at that: You guys are all fucking awesome and I love you.

To those who message me asking if you can write the official prequel or sequel or sequel's sequel to Rainbow Factory: Fuck no, you can't write the official ANYTHING. You can, however, write absolutely anything you wish as fanfiction, unsanctioned, un-canon, of RF. I love it when you guys decide to write your own takes on it, honest, I love it. But you cannot go around saying what you wrote is the actual sequel. Understood? Cool. Go off and write, young bucks.

Secondly, to those who have *already* written RF fanfiction, *NO* I will not help you edit it, no I will not read it, and no I will not collaborate with you on finishing it. I do not have time. It's a miracle I've manage to find time to even make it to the final chapter of Pegasus Device. I don't even read *any* fiction any more. No time. And it's unfair. I get at least a request a week: How could I possibly keep up with that?

Thirdly, don't message me telling me how to write or what to write or how the sequel should go. The *ONLY* time you guys can send me an *idea* of what to write is with Mythbuckers, and even then, I'll still write what I feel tells the best story. No getting upset when I don't answer "how does luna make clouds turn black" in it, mmkay?

I love your comments, guys, I do. Even the most vile, hate-filled critiques make me happy. And, if you're starting a unique project like a song or a movie, or even a picture, I encourage you to send it to me via FIMfiction or my gmail account. But as of today, whenever I get a message like the ones above, I'm just going to reply with this post. It's gotten so tiring, having all the comments on my work- good or bad- drowned out by "HEY READ MY STORY. HEY I WROTE THE PREQUEL READ IT AND EDIT IT FOR ME. HEY YOU HAVEN'T REPLIED TO ME YET IT'S BEEN TWO DAYS I'M GOING TO DROWN MYSELF. btw to make sure canon matches celestia has to burn down the factory in mythbuckers okay so do that bye"

A second teaser for the die-hard fans...

Pegasus Device is, as of this writing, almost finished. Chapter 3/4 was roughly finished a couple minutes ago. Currently, it stands at a total of 38608 words.

For the people anxiously waiting, I have a little teaser. Obviously, it includes SPOILERS

Towards the back wall she finally glimpsed the image of a sweating and swearing stallion, squeezed in between a cluster of shaking pipes.

“What’s- ah, Flocking piece of manure... what’s up, Gentle? Why aren’t you at your station?”

“Well,” she began, attempting to get closer. Gauge was about twenty feet away, but the spiderweb of metal blocked her from approaching. “There’s been a development with the failures. They started rushing the workers below. I’ve come to find you before they lose control of the repairs and something bad happens up here.”

“A sweet sentiment,” Gauge replied through clenched teeth, frowning at a rusted nut he couldn’t seem to break. “But no worries. If I don’t get this switched before they stop cycling the steam, it’ll just blow out some machines on the other side of the factory. The only way I’d be in trouble here-”

His words were cut off as every light in the room slammed off, just to be replaced by a low red light. It circulated the room quickly, tossing numerous shadows in the already-confusing labyrinth. An air raid siren rose from the depths of the factory, it’s peircing howl reverberating inside the worker’s heads. Gauge looked around slowly and suddenly froze, his face turning incredibly pale. In an instant he was frantically struggling to escape from his position, but found himself wedged perfectly in place.

“... is if the main computer system were to suffer a major malfunction.”

As if an army of ghosts had invaded, a million groans and whines overwhelmed them. A second later, the pipes surrounding the stallion exploded.

365 days ago I sat down, incredibly sick with an awful fever, not two days after having finished watching all of Season One in pretty much one go for the first time.

I sat down and, with WoodenToaster's 'Rainbow Factory' playing on repeat, began writing the story.

By the next day it was finished. Someone commented on WoodenToaster (now Glaze)'s video that "there should be a fanfiction made of this."

I said "Hey I just wrote one!"

Glaze said "Hey I've never read fanfiction before but I'd love to see it."

I sent him the link, and since then there's been over a million hits in the combined official sources of Rainbow Factory. More fanart than I can count. Dozens upon dozens of fanfictions of Rainbow Factory. Music, even! Awoken was partly inspired by my story, as it was intended to be a pseudo-sequel to Glaze's original song. There's been animations longer than an actual episode of MLP dedicated to my story. Dozens of people have done dramatic readings. It's been translated into EIGHT languages. I've gotten to know hundreds of people, amazing people, become a known name in the fandom (At least as far as people tell me. My story is recognized much longer before I ever am XD)

People have cosplayed my characters at major conventions. I've been interviewed by a Russian fanzine. I fell in love with the most amazing girl on the planet, who I would have NEVER have found were it not for my story. The people I met helped me come out of the closet to my parents and live openly.

I don't like the story. Many people who follow me know it. The concept is great, I love that- it's why I'm writing Pegasus Device- but the writing quality is just awful. It's disgusting. I wouldn't trade it for the world, though. It's changed my life and brought me so much luck and happiness that I'll never edit it, delete it, or shame away from it, because it's what made me me.

Thank you, every one of you. I love you all so, SO much. The link's right up there, guys. Why not one more read for old time's sake? =P

Because authors need to eat as well

As of today, I've added donation links at the bottom of each of my stories.

This is not a "help I'm starving to death" or a "My step-father will murder me if I don't move across the country" situation. Following in the steps of artists, animators, and musicians, I've left the links there to remind readers that while our entertainment is provided for free, it is something us writers put our effort in for the joy of ourselves and others.

If you have a spare dollar or two, and have thoroughly enjoyed my writing in the past, please consider donating. Don't feel bad if you don't want too! ^_^

In news relevant to your interests, Pegasus Device is moving along nicely now. I'm a scene or two away from finishing Chapter 2, and you'll be interested to know that the whole story is just under 25,000 words.

If things go as planned, I'll be completing the novel sometime in early September. I'm excited.

I have been a little inspired lately in the fact that I am madly in love with my new girlfriend, Amanda, and she gives me that push to keep writing <3

    Cheers, all!

    Poll for my followers

I have just noticed that NaPoWriMo is coming.

I will be taking part in it.

I, however, feel I should ask this question:

Should I buckle down and get Pegasus Device finished (which I haven't added ANYTHING too since early June, which pisses me off)

Or should I set it aside and write that Rum Trotters story I previewed in 'Scenarios'?

This will remain open until mid-Saturday, in which I shall tally all votes and write whatever wins.

    I have hundreds of ideas.

Hundreds of tiny thoughts and scenarios in my head that I will never, ever complete or refine, yet they occupy space.

    I need them out.

So I’ve started writing them in a document, one designed to trap the thoughts, not one to sit in my Drive and threaten me and guilt me for never finishing it.

I present to you fine folks who follow me for my writing, some of my actual (unedited) writing.

(I'm posting this to my tumblr because it's not nearly long enough to be considered a story)

Fear not, faithful readers! I'm working on several projects at the moment and due to work, the holiday season, and moving to a new house, I've been incredibly busy.

To give you an idea on things that I've actually started working on, there's a new episode of "Mythbuckers" in the works. That will probably be released first; however, I'm not sure when. I'd like to say "Soon", but if anything unexpected comes back up, my time could be limited again. I'm also working on another story. It's a bit of a short but it's got chapters. "Fall From Grace" follows an ex-wonderbolt as he reviews his life and finds out how he went from most-loved-athlete to low-life-on-the streets. It's a bit of a gritty story, full of *gasp* swears and adult subject matter. Keep your eyes open for it. There is one chapter done, but I'd like to have the second finished before I upload it anywhere.

Finally, and, for lovers of Rainbow Factory, the best- "Postal" follows Derpy Hooves in her post office job. The title combined with the words "Grimdark as Fuck" should help readers clue in as to the content. No idea when this will be posted. Probably after everything else.

A little more information for fans of Rainbow Factory, actually: First, that comic page done by Doom1945? I've been in contact with him and it sounds like there's going to be an entire comic book of the whole story. You heard me right. An entire comic book. In high quality, incredibly rendered art by an extremely talented artist. Of Rainbow Factory.

Second, it looks like the great people over at Rainbow Dash Presents are getting close to completing their animation of Rainbow Factory. I hope everyone is as excited for that as I am =D I've been seeing glimpses of the artwork that will be in the episode, and it looks fantastic. Can't wait!

Finally, I've started planning a sequel to Rainbow Factory. I'm not entirely sure what the plot will end up being, but it will definitely include more Dr. Atmosphere, actual character development, proper timing and a well paced story. I've learned a lot from Rainbow Factory.

If anyone's ever interested in story ideas that I have on a back-burner and won't probably be released in ages, if ever, feel free to ask me about;

Rum Trotters

Dude... You just made my jaw unhinge.

I loved RDP as soon as I saw it and can't wait to see this, and the ex wonderbolt story sounds interesting. I hope the comic will be translated to English though:twilightoops:

As for a sequel to Rainbow factory: I had jokingly thought while this page was loading that Mythbuckers was gonna be put off for a sequel to Rainbow Factory. No joke. So Either I'm psychic or You're predictable. And considering you went from horrorfics to discovery channel parodies to past reflection stuff, all while being based on a kids show, I think we can rule out the latter.

Postal. Upload it. Now.
