<Personal/Professional> A Change and a New Story · 3:45am Jul 7th, 2015
Okay. A while ago I had written a blog saying that I was never going to write a same-sex ship story because it was not in accordance with my beliefs.
That, however, has changed.
I am in the process of writing one, one that is about to stallions, one by the name of Xavier and the other by the name of Sebastian. It came to be when I was asked by a friend to draw the pony Sebastian, who happened to be a sea pony. I saw how cute he was after I drew him, and immediately thought I had to ship him with one of my OCs, specifically Retrospect Saxon. Thing was, he was with another friend's OC, so I created a character that is their son. Thus, Xavier Saxon was born, and he and Sebastian will have their own story.
Now, why has my view changed? In a way, it hasn't really. I guess I just don't know what to think anymore of the topic of homosexuality and whatnot. I've come to a point where I feel that I don't care too much for either side, and that happiness is something all deserve. If you find it with a person of the same gender, whatever. I don't care too much.
I just really liked the idea of shipping Sebastian and Xavier, so here it is guys. My first same-sex ship fic. Prepare yourselves...it's going to be a doozy.
Oh, and to my friend Mel...yes, Retro and Nightshade now have a son. This takes place in the future, so don't worry. It's not like they got him early on.

Personally, I don't really go in for the same-sex shipping at all unless it's for a gag. Well, any shipping really. It's all just fun and games for me since I'm ace and think sex is a joke in general. But yeah, if I can make things really weird by shipping two same-sex characters, I'm all for it. To use an obscure reference that only childish geeks like me will get, I ship Nya and Skylor from LEGO Ninjago just because it would turn the show's canon relationships on their heads.
Actually, now that I think about it, that show has a robot that is in a relationship with a secondary AI in his head. Things are already weird.
Ramblings aside, I think I started writing this comment to say that even though I understand homosexuality even less than I understand normal peer bonding dynamics. If it's a creative and original ship, that's cool, no matter the genders of those involved. If it's gay for the sake of being gay then I'm not into it.
3217963 Well, I saw the adorableness of the character, and though, "Oh my god. I love this pony. I need to ship it." The first pony that came to mind was Retro, but he's obviously with Nightshade, so I was like, "Okay, the two of them did the diggity-doo and then had a wiggity-woo and named it Xavier who is now with Sebastian."
However, it is not gay for the sake of having a gay ship. I really do like the idea of the two of them together, and I'm creating a story for them.

So basically the world is going to see what happens when a career soldier and a personal counselor have a son who is in love with a hippocampus. This should be interesting.
3218155 Oh, it'll definitely be interesting. There is a war story component of it that will be a part of the major story, but it'll factor in later.
